Starting with... Dave McIntyre/West London Sport QPR outcast in line for return 16/01/2012 Hogan Ephraim will get a chance to stake his claim for a first-team place when QPR play MK Dons on Tuesday. Ephraim, recently back from a loan spell at Charlton, is desperate to re-establish himself under Mark Hughes having been left out of former boss Neil Warnock’s 25-man Premier League squad. He was an unused substitute for Sunday’s defeat at Newcastle but is set to feature in this week’s FA Cup third-round replay. Summer signing DJ Campbell, whose season has been blighted by injury and illness, is also hoping to play. www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-outcast-set-for-return-against-mk-dons/

Would certainly like to see Hogan given a chance to show what he can do. Could surprise us all. Not sure about DJ though. Haven't seen anything from him that really excites me.

I would expect Hogan to start the game. DJ looked out of sorts against Mk last time so I think will be lucky to start. Would like to see Macheda start the game. I think he is a good player who will improve with fitness.

This was their late cancellation of Sat Game (Wonder if it would have happened a week earlier!) MK Dons CLUB STATEMENT Posted on: Sat 14 Jan 2012 MK Dons very much regrets the postponement of the npower League 1 fixture against Carlisle United at such short notice. With frost forecast for Friday evening the decision was taken to cover sections of the stadiummk pitch which have previously been affected in cold spells. Despite these measures a 30-yard section remained frozen. The referee arrived at lunchtime and embarked on the regular pre-match inspection, at which point he raised his concerns. The ground staff were given the opportunity to work hard to soften up the affected area. Despite their best efforts it was clear to the referee that the pitch remained unsafe and he informed both managers. In hindsight, our pitch protection measures were not adequate. The Club unreservedly apologises to all supporters who travelled to the game. Chairman Pete Winkelman said: "I am extremely embarrassed and disappointed that the game has not been played today. I sympathise with all the supporters, particularly those coming all the way from Carlisle. "I can only say some very important lessons have been learnt and as a result of this the Club will be reviewing its pitch protection procedures as a matter of priority. I am aware that even with a rearranged game it will be extremely difficult for a number of Carlisle supporters to return for that fixture, and that is something I deeply regret. "I will be discussing with the Carlisle Chairman, John Nixon, how we can take measures to ensure that as many away supporters that made the long trip today can get the chance to return for the rearranged fixture." www.mkdons.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10420~2577104,00.html

QPR will not mug off Cup promises Hughes Published 22:30 16/01/12 By Simon Bird Recommend . Mark Hughes wants the FA Cup to rejuvenate QPR's season and give his new regime lift-off. The relegation-threatened Londoners face MK Dons in a replay on Tuesday, just 48 hours after losing at Newcastle in new manager Hughes' first game in charge. The Welshman will make a limited number of changes for the home date against the League One promotion chasers, to take a look at his squad, but has not got a vast range of options. "I've always felt a good cup run can rub off on your league form," said Hughes. "If we can progress in the competition, it will help our confidence. The fact we are winning games in a cup competition will help us in the league. "We'll have to make a few changes, but it won't be wholesale." Hughes, who won the FA Cup four times as a player, three with Manchester United and one with Chelsea, added: "I've always tried to pay the competition the respect it deserves [with my team selection], it's a competition that has been very good for me. "We don't have any injuries from the Newcastle game. Touch wood. It's a quick turnaround with the cup game and maybe I'll take the opportunity to take a look at the players who haven't really been involved at the weekend. "It gives me another opportunity to understand what I've got at the football club. "The timing of it is unfortunate. It's not easy, the closeness of the two fixtures, because it does have an effect on players in terms of staying at the top of their game." Rangers midfielder Jamie Mackie says the players can start to put some of the "buzz" Hughes has brought to the training pitch into practice against Dons. Hughes has seen his new charges blowing hard during some intense and sharp sessions in the last week, and Mackie believes that will eventually pay dividends. The 26-year-old, who was a Dons player at the time of their move from Wimbledon and renaming in 2004, said: "Regardless of the competition, we need wins and we need to get back to a winning mentality at this football club. That's something we haven't had at this football club this season. "So the FA Cup is a great place to start. It's a chance to get a win and kick-start our season. I enjoyed going back to the Dons in the first game - but I'll enjoy it even more if we beat them. "In previous games we looked a bit more open and likely to conceding goals. But against Newcastle we looked a lot more solid. "We've only had three or four days working with the new boss and it's exciting. He's brought a buzz to the place. That always happens when a new manager comes in. "But the lads are buying into training. The more time we have with him, the better we'll get. Hopefully we'll get a couple more players on board to help us out. If we can do that, we'll have a great chance of staying up. "Especially with the fixtures coming up, we know we are capable of getting points on board." *** Karl Robinson insists his MK Dons side will be all guns blazing at Loftus Road - against the club he supports. Robinson goes to watch QPR when he can, but is looking for an upset in Tuesday's FA Cup third round replay. "We'll have a go at them," said the Dons boss. "When we play, we leave nothing in the tank. "I didn't have a great playing career, but I remember playing there in Kevin Gallen's testimonial. "It's the London club I support, and I watch them every now and then, when I get the chance. "I don't know why I like them, but I want to go down there and enjoy pitting our wits against a very good QPR team." Robinson has also apologised to Carlisle fans after their League One clash was postponed at the weekend due to a frozen pitch. It meant Dons players are fresh for QPR, when they will look for revenge after two controversial decisions in the 1-1 draw a week ago. "They were two big decisions," said Robinson. "But we have to move on." www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/QPR-manager-Mark-Hughes-says-going-on-FA-Cup-run-can-help-Rangers-improve-league-form-article854522.html

JAMIE MACKIE wants tonight’s FA Cup replay to be the turning point in Queen’s Park Rangers’ season. They take on League One MK Dons at Loftus Road after Heidar Helguson’s late equaliser at stadium:mk. New Rangers chief Mark Hughes will resist making wholesale changes, despite the game coming just over 48 hours after his managerial reign started with a 1-0 defeat at Newcastle. The Welshman wants that first win as soon as possible. And while Premier League survival is top priority, no one at Rangers is dismissing the importance of tonight’s match, especially with a home fourth-round tie against Chelsea the prize. “Regardless of the competition, we need wins and we need to get back to a winning mentality,” said Mackie. “That’s something we haven’t had this season. So the FA Cup is a great place to start. It’s a chance to get a win and kick-start our season.” Hughes is set to be one of the biggest spenders in the last fortnight of the transfer window, with Chris Samba, Alex and Sao Paolo’s Henrique heading his shopping list. But even if his place is under threat, Mackie is up for the challenge. “When a new manager comes in, you expect him to bring in his own players,” added the Scotland star. “But I’m not scared about losing my place and having to fight for it. “I have confidence in my own ability and hope the manager likes what he sees.” Mackie is impressed with his new gaffer and believes the seeds of recovery were sown at Newcastle. “We’ve only had three or four days with the boss and it’s exciting,” he said. “He’s brought a buzz to the place. The lads are buying into his training methods and the more time we have, the better we’ll get. “We looked more solid at Newcastle and had a better shape about us. “Hopefully, we’ll get a couple more players and if we do that, we’ll have a great chance of staying up.” www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/230599/Jamie-Mackie-Time-for-QPR-to-turn-it-around/?

MK Dons Official Site FA CUP PREVIEW: QPR Posted on: Tue 17 Jan 2012 Dons boss Karl Robinson has urged his players to create history at Loftus Road this evening. The Gaffer wants MK Dons to be in the Club for the first time and he wants his players to be able to pit their wits against a Chelsea side that is packed with internationals, with the winner of tonight's game at Queens Park Rangers going through to face Andre Villas-Boas' team. The incentive of a page in the Dons history books and a visit from John Terry and Co will feature heavily in Robinson's team talks ahead of the showdown at Loftus Road. But one thing Robinson and the Dons will have to contend with is Mark Hughes being in the home dug out for the first time since replacing Neil Warnock as manager. Warnock departed 24 hours after Heidar Helguson's 89th minute goal rescued a draw for QPR at stadiummk and forced the tie to be replayed. Hughes took charge of his first game on Sunday when the Hoops were beaten 1-0 by Newcastle and it is from that game that the Dons have had to predict what lies ahead. Speaking to the media Robinson said: "I watched their game twice trying to work out different styles and ways of playing. I was part of the team that took over from him at Blackburn so I know a little bit about the way he had Blackburn set up so hopefully that will stand us in good stead. Hopefully we have seen enough within that game to give us the opportunity to plan and prepare. "I know Mark Hughes doesn't leave any stone unturned and I am sure that when he was on that plane back from Newcastle on Sunday he would have been watching a DVD of us and putting together a preparation plan, that is why he is one of the best managers and why we have to conduct ourselves in the right way and get the result that we all want. "We're excited but there is an element of nerves there because we're not going there just to make the number up we are going there to put a performance on and get the victory. The nerves will kick in because it is a chance for us to show that we are a good footballing team. The FA Cup offers us as a lower League team to go and compete against the best." Dean Bowditch's goal was cancelled out by Heidar Helguson's 89th minute strike in the original fixture The Dons will have Charlie MacDonald available again after a knee injury kept him out of the original fixture, but the game comes too soon for Gary MacKenzie. New R's manager Hughes revealed he would make some changes as the club look to bounce back from the defeat at Newcastle. Captain Joey Barton serves the final instalment of his three-match ban, Adel Taarabt and Armand Traore are on African Nations Cup duty and Alejandro Faurlin (knee) is out for the rest of the season. The Dons went so close to causing the upset at stadiummk, but Robinson believes his side are capable of being the giant killers on this occasion. He added: "We are prepared for the challenge; it is a great challenge for us as a Club. The players keep telling me they can play higher and it is up to them to prove that they can. "It will be a hostile environment but our fans have really backed us in the last 18 months and I want to give them something they can remember and tell their kids about." If the score remains even after 90 minutes a further 30 minutes of extra-time will be played and if the teams can still not be separated the winner will be determined on penalty kicks. www.mkdons.com/page/MatchPreview/0,,10420~2579319,00.html

No haha. You know when you have a season ticket or a membership card and they scan it to get in? Well I was worried that FA Cup matches were ticket only and the cards don't work. In previous seasons I've never really bothered with Memberships because it wasn't exactly that hard to get tickets.

I am in Platinum tonight for a tenner " happy days" , am really looking forward to see the mighty hoops smash MK.
Speaking to a Wimbledon fan the other day and she tells me MK had the cheek to ask the FA to change the name on the FA cup from Wimbledon who won it back in the crazy gang days ,I think could be wrong and put MK dons in its place.

AFC Wimbledon is a wonderful club, for what they've achieved, thumbs up! This makes me hate MK Dons even more...
Does somebody know how many tickets have we sold so far? I don't know what to expect, a 5'000 crowd or a 15'000 crowd. I hope it's gonna be a nice game, and a precious win to build on! And meeting the scum from down the road in the next round is a huge source of motivation! U R'ssss!
