QPR Fan Groups DID Meet With Club Reps Mid-April
« Thread Started on Apr 9, 2009, 8:55pm »

[This was from mid-April]

The QPR Fan Groups Meet Club THIS Week

Who should attend?
Personally I think given his conduct, and his close ties to certain club officials, fan groups should carefully consider the role of Pete in such a meeting - asuming they decide to go ahead and have the meeting. And you can argue it either way: Spite your face if you don't attend.

If you can get in, I certainly invite you to attend as my Rep: But the deal is you have to report back on this site, first.

If it's just numbers: This site's readership (not it's posters) is growing (at least recently!). And this site's moderators clearly are across the spectrum (and Myu has an open invitation to return - as do the couple of other QPR sites who haven't at least yet accepted the offer as moderators)

And of course - if size counts! - The QPR Report blog gets one of the biggest daily readerships.

So yes Scott, go for it!

I think you may have to ask representation from Ali Russell.

If you get the ok I'll go with only questions asked by your messageboard

Scott attending on behalf of this board is not a good idea in my opinion. He will only be regarded by all as a rep of that site, by both the club and all the other rep groups.

Sorry Scott but that's my opinion.

First let's get me admitted: Once you admit LFW and WATRB (although QPR.org should also be included and maybe others) Anyway once LFW and WATRB are included, and they are not "rep groups like LSA or QPR1st etc, the case against QPR Report moves from totally-self-evident to a case could be made for or against.

Ideally if was admitted, maybe could have rotating Reps. Given that the moderators on this board come from all the other messagboards and a couple of others such as BP and Dave Thomas, that would be a very reasonable/rational approach is others willing.

- Of course, it's possible I could attend if Mittal/Briatore would send the plane to pick me up.

But step One is to get a response from Mr. Russell. And step two to get an invite.

I have sent two emails to Mr. Russell regarding a QPR Report representative attending.

Unfortunately thus far, I've had no acknowledgment even of receipt of the email, let alone a response.

Politeness begets politeness! And the reverse also. I mean it's not going to give me much time to make arrangements by the time he gets back to me.'

Maybe if I mention the word ECCLESTONE - that will set off some computer alert - and club reps will ensure this message gets to the attention of Mr. Russell. :o

Reading my distinguished sister site: Just to confirm that the fans groups DID meet yesterday (Wednesday). (No: A QPR Report Rep was NOT in attendance, despite "secretly try[ing] to gain inclusion" and "trying to worm [my] way in" ::)

The fan sites are going to simultaneously release an account of what occurred. (So that means no little leaks/hints. "Oh Look What I know")

eusabio would be the best rep of this site because he is clearly not associated with other sites

Good question!

In case people didn't know: Based on Scott's suggestion how to go about joining, I contacted Ali Russell regarding this matter!

Russell's office passed on my email to a OneQPR Rep who contacted me and elaborated further on things and condition.

I responded back confirming my interest and agreemen to comply with conditions, if accepted.

The Rep got back to me, said my letter would be passed on to the other fan sites who would then vote on the matter.

And based on Pete's reaction, I presume that letter did get passed on to the other fan sites.

If any fan site wants to contact me and ask me further questions, etc, I'm happy to answer. But I'm certainly not contacting the other groups, "campaigning to get included"

I can make the argument for inclusion. I'm obviously aware of the arguments against inclusion.

Obviously if I didn't feel that despite my distance and "not having seen a QPR game since 1969" (actually yet another wrong factoid :o ), I with a blog that scans the globe and maybe bring in the views of QPR fans across the globe (and also the other overseas QPR sites), this messageboard, and 40+ years of QPR, could still make a contribution. And as a genuine "independent" voice.

Obviously, "QPR Report" would not be attending meetings in person. Scott volunteered - and actually initiated the idea. But on reflection - and I haven't gone into details, because that would be rather premature - I think it would probably be best to have a messageboard poster, or a rotation of posters, who don't also "represent" other QPR sites. But I'm sure that won't be a problem.

Anyway QPR fan groups will make the determination re QPR Report. I have to say that I'm not 100% sure that Pete will be supporting the idea, although as a QPR fan, he'd surely be putting the best interests of QPR over his ownn personal issues.

See. I can answer questions :)

Can someone just clear something up for me?

Do guys like Pete from WATRB and Clive from LFW go to these meetings to represent the members of their messageboards?

Just wondered as a few days ago I started a poll on WATRB to ask if people thought after recent events if Pete was the best person to represent the views of the members of the MB in an impartial way.

This was very quickly deleted and this was his response :

Thanks.

Just fyi, for those who for, whatever reason don't want to visit that WATRB link (I obviously haven't had that problem ;) )

Pete's response:
"Its my board and when I see something like that I will delete it.
I don't represent anyone.
I think all supporters are equal.
If you feel I represent you, then maybe you should go to a board where you feel someone represents you better. Your not forced to come on here and ONEqpr have 15 members
Its never regarded by anyone at ONEQPR we represent anyone. We gage opinion. "

Clive does not attend, mainly due to distance, there's only been one or two to attend since LFW have been included anyway. LFW elected their own rep to report back as I recall.

WTF? He's certainly changed since I first encountered him.

Talk about full of self grandiose. If he is just another fan like the rest of us, he certainly appears very insecure and vulnerable.

"Its never regarded by anyone at ONEQPR we represent anyone. We gage opinion" V "The ONEQPR is a democratic process", so which is Pete, a democratic process that accepts the will of 90% of its own poll opinion or a despotic vehicle for you to set your own agenda?
