Assuming hughes signs, will we have a new list of targets now? No I don't think so, don't you find it weird that nearly every player we have been linked to has played for Hughes before?

Assume new manager will mean new thinking about the players we need/get rid of. Tony had better get his skates on, the clock is ticking and we don't have a manager!! Does it not strike you as strange that the recent player lnks have almost all been signed or played for Hughes?

Along with his assistants he's got most clubs covered in terms of having links with and as Harlow has said he's worked with a number of our supposed targets.
Hughes signed Samba for Blackburn, managed SWP and Onouha at City, signed Bridge as well as the likes of Barry, Tevez, Adebayor, Lescott, Toure and also signed Dembele for Fulham who was plucked from nowhere and has been a bit of a hit for Fulham.
Also managed Zamora and Johnson and his links to Chelsea and United could help us to sign Bertrand and Darron Gibson who I believe would be excellent additions especially with Traore gone and Faurlin injured.

one for LennyPaulista Mark Hughes cannot wait to get started as new QPR manager and sets his sights on Brazilian striker Henriquewww.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/queens-park-rangers/9003891/Mark-Hughes-cannot-wait-to-get-started-as-new-QPR-manager-and-sets-his-sights-on-Brazilian-striker-Henrique.html?Hughes, and his adviser Kia Joorabchian, arrived at Loftus Road on Monday to finalise the deal to succeed Neil Warnock who was sacked on Sunday. Hughes emerged from four hours of talks to state that he was “pleased” at how the discussions had gone but added that “nothing was confirmed”. “There’s a will to get where we both feel comfortable,” the former Fulham manager said, adding that talks would resume on Tuesday and that he was an “ambitious manager and hopeful [the] club will match the ambitions.” If the talks succeed, Hughes is expected to bring his trusted backroom staff of Mark Bowen, Eddie Niedzwiecki and Kevin Hitchcock with him. Telegraph Sport revealed that QPR owner Tony Fernandes had lost faith in Warnock’s ability to save the club from relegation and wanted to make a change before it was too late. With Fernandes overseas, talks with QPR’s chief executive Phil Beard continued into the evening, although they are thought to have centred more on the club’s transfer plans during the remainder of the window, rather Hughes’s contract. The 48 year-old has already agreed in principle to succeed Warnock, and was signing his contract on Monday night, but wanted assurances that Rangers will spend the funds, not only to save themselves from relegation but eventually to become a Premier League force. His arrival will represent a coup for Fernandes. Hughes quit Fulham in the summer because he believed the club’s ambitions did not match his own and, although Rangers are less established in the top flight, it is understood he is intrigued by the project being undertaken by Fernandes, which includes plans for a new 30,000-seat stadium. For that to happen Rangers, who are 17th in the table just one point above the relegation places, having taken only two points from their last eight league matches, must avoid dropping into the Championship. Bids have already been submitted for a number of players including Blackburn Rovers’ Christopher Samba. However Rangers face stiff competition for Samba, with Tottenham Hotspur expected to trump their offer of £5 million by bidding £8 million for the defender. Spurs are trying to tie up a deal before Hughes’s appointment because they know the Welshman has a good relationship with Samba having signed him for Blackburn. Rangers are already in talks with Chelsea defender Alex and have discussed a move for Manchester City’s Nedum Onuoha, who has also previously worked with Hughes. It will be interesting to see whether Hughes makes a bid for City’s Nigel de Jong, although it may be difficult to persuade the Dutch international to join QPR. The Welshman will also want to bolster his squad’s attacking options. He has previously worked with Fulham’s Andy Johnson — a £2 million bid was made by QPR and rejected — and Bobby Zamora, who could also be a target. Fernandes has discussed the possibility of making a move for Wayne Bridge — Warnock told him he did not want the defender — who was signed for City by Hughes and, although the left-back is keen to return to London, he would have to take a cut on his £90,000-a-week wages even though he would be a free transfer. It is also likely that Rangers are planning at least one spectacular move in the market — and bids for the likes of Darren Bent and Jermain Defoe have been discussed – and the possibility of Henrique is intriguing. The 20-year-old Brazilian won the Golden Ball, as the best player at the Under-20 World Cup and the Golden Boot as the tournament’s top scorer. Henrique plays for Sao Paulo but is understood to be keen to leave and move to a European club. There have been unconfirmed reports that he has a €20 million (£16.5 million) release clause in his contract, should he move abroad. Hughes’ first game in charge will be at Newcastle United on Sunday and he will go there with a depleted squad unless signings are made quickly. Joey Barton is suspended, while Adel Taarabt and Armand Traoré are at the Africa Cup of Nations. Who is Henrique? Queens Park Rangers would be pulling off a major transfer coupif they persuade Sao Paulo striker Henrique to relocate to their relatively unglamorous corner of west London. The 20 year-old was named player of the tournament for his performances for Brazil at the Under-20 World Cup last summer. AC Milan, Inter Milan, Roma and Juventus all expressed an interest but he decided to stay in Brazil and sign a new contract with Sao Paulo.

Other than the fact that they've thrown the name into the story, where is the link to wanting him in that article. Confused of Walton.

Heard if Henrique before, all I remember is praise for him. Would love us to sign a player like that. 20 years old and one for now and the future.

There is a lot going on at the moment in the average QPR fan's life and I expect we have been looking far afield trying to establish whats happening. Whilst I have been trawling through various sites trying to get a handle on Mark Hughes, Joey Barton etc I've noticed on odd perception that pundits and other fans have about us. Here's a quote from Lawro on BBC website this morning. "The new owner arrived and spent big in the August transfer window on players like Joey Barton, but it has just not happened for QPR". Other comments from fans embittered because we "throw money at it" (the Norwich messageboard) . This is sh*t, we spent the same on all our players as Stoke spent just on Crouch. We spent a million more than Swansea for g*ds sake. We are now looking at a budget of £20 for 4 or 5 players. Add that to all the money we spent in the summer and we could nearly buy Andy Carroll - but not quite. Big spenders, f**k that.

BBC Sport reporting "Bolton have made a surprise swoop on Lancashire neighbours Blackburn for midfielder Junior Hoilett".
Thought we were interested in him. We need to get a manager fast so that we don't miss out on our preferred signings again!!

Right, so who is going to be Sparky's first signing?? I will say Bridge on a perm.
Also how about Stephen Ireland?? We need a CM and Hughes got the best out of him at City, in fact he was their POTY 3 seasons ago. Lost his way after Hughes left and is not enjoying his time at Villa.

Stephen Ireland has been Villa's best player for the past few weeks, most notably when they tonked the scum at Stamford Bridge on NYE, it wouldn't surprise me if we went after Darren Bent though, but he's absolutely lazy on the pitch and how he's in the England set up boggles my mind, Villa play better without him (compare their Chelsea game and then the Swansea game right after when Bent came back) so they'll get rid I think.
Drogba well I highly doubt this because at his age, I don't think he's worth the staggering amount of wages he gets, he said he's out for a pay day now.

Under Warnock I would have said no to Bridge but under Hughes I think he would be a good signing. My worry about Bridge just like a lot of 'our' potential targets is the lack of regular Premiership football. We need players that will hit the ground running the likes of Onouha and Bridge might struggle for a few weeks and right now it's not time that we have, which is why the likes of Collins, Samba etc are better targets.
