Cant believe people are complaining we are making a bid of 5 million for a quality player like Samba . A year or twp back we were making bids of 100k for some right old rejects ! We have come along way and like CPR stated you have to start somewhere , dont want to make it too easy for these agents .

Back to Johnson, apart from the fact that he has not been a prolific scorer this season, he is also coming up to 31 (February) and if we are going to take a chance I would much prefer that a chance be taken with somebody younger who shows promise. Also Johnson is not a big guy and I would prefer to see somebody with a bit of beef in the striker position and ability to go with it. Of course, we thought we had that in Bothroyd but .....................

See where your coming from but the only thing that attracts me to Johnson(not in that way )is he would probably stick with us if we went down , can do a job if we stay up . Not really ideal but if we get anywhere to brilliant and go down , wont have a hope in hell in keeping them . Dont see Barton and SWP playing 46 games in the Championship Next year but could see Johnson . Shouldnt be looking at it this way but have to be realistic . Much rather prefer Defoe but wont happen nor will Hooper and 10 Million for Zamora is a waste , Maynard would be good but lets not forget he hasnt played in the Prem , not everyone in the Champs makes the step up , Morison did , Graham possibly , Bothroyd No and alot of other No. What happened with the Rangers striker all dead?

J Bothroyd has played well in a 4 4 2 formation and has Scored in that formation + in my opinion our wingers or full backs do not cross quick enough they take to many extra touches.Johnson 27 Goals from 103 is not great stats imo.

Exclusive: Villa want Olsson to replace Collins Published 22:01 06/01/12 By James Nursey Recommend Aston Villa are moving for West Brom star Jonas Olsson as they prepare to sell fellow centre-back James Collins. Welsh international Collins is up for sale, and QPR have been told they can have him for £5million.Villa boss Alex McLeish, who has to sell before he can buy, wants to then reinvest the Collins cash in Olsson. The Swede, 28, only has 18 months left on his contract at The Hawthorns and has failed to agree a new deal. Albion are now reluctantly considering cashing in on him rather than risk his value plummeting. If Villa can shift £40,000-a-week Collins, they could get Olsson on cheaper terms. www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Transfer-gossip-exclusive-Aston-Villa-want-Jonas-Olsson-of-West-Brom-to-replace-QPR-target-James-Collins-article849838.html

Really?? Is he really that good?? £5m?? If Alex is worth £2m then Collins is worth less.

If we pay £5 Million for James Collins, we really are the new mugs on the block & I'm a fan of his as well, If we can get James Collins AND Alex for £5million then thats good business & pretty much shores up the centre.
I bet Ipswich fans are over the moon they got rid of Jordan Rhodes, one of the worst decisions a "small" club has ever made IMO, what on earth where they playing at ?
He's worth more than Connor Wickham, he's deadly!

What two have we totally missed out on then?
Tony Fernandes, the QPR owner, increased the pressure for results on Friday by taking the highly unusual step of issuing a statement to warn that no job at the club is safe. Under pressure: QPR manager Neil Warnock knows he must start to deliver wins for the club again.
QPR have won only once in the Premier League since Oct 23 and are now perilously placed, just one point and place above the relegation zone.
Fernandes has huge ambitions for QPR and will be active in this January transfer window, but his Twitter postings have placed fresh scrutiny on the position of manager Neil Warnock.
“Its important to note no one job is safe,” wrote Fernandes. “Results are key. If I don’t deliver I would be the first to step down as chairman.
"We owe it to all the fans. Good money is paid and results are key. I will leave no stone unturned to make QPR a success. But if I fail I have to go. I will give it 150 percent effort.”
Fernandes had earlier denied that he was planning to withhold money during a transfer window that is likely to be pivotal for QPR’s chances of survival and long-term future.

We are disappointed where we are in the league.
"This is a journey not a sprint. Along the way we learn. But we continue to develop and along the way hard decisions need to be made. But we never stop moving. Never.”
QPR have already had a £5 million offer turned down for Blackburn Rovers centre-back Chris Samba, who is also of interest to Tottenham.
Blackburn would value their defender at closer to £10 million with QPR monitoring other targets, including Manchester City’s Nedum Onouha.
An offer of around £2 million to Fulham for Andy Johnson, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has also been rebuffed.
“I think it would not be best for us to sell him to whatever club for a lower fee,” said Martin Jol, the Fulham manager on Friday. “Of course he will stay here and if he is not signing he can leave at the end of the season.”
Warnock has openly admitted he needs to strengthen the squad, highlighting centre-back and attack as the key areas in need of reinforcements.
He had already secured the loan signing this week of Manchester United striker Federico Macheda. QPR would like another permanent striker, with Aston Villa’s Darren Bent also considered until it was realised that he would be too expensive.
“We are working very hard behind the scenes and before Newcastle [on Jan 15[ we want them in place,” said Warnock.
“We have got options for a number of positions and it is like everybody else as you don’t know whether you are going to sign anybody until the actual signature is on the paper.
“Things change. This week a couple of my targets were made out of bounds now so you look elsewhere. There is money to spend but I am not going to throw it away stupidly. I know there are targets and Tony Fernandes is doing his best.”
Another rumoured target is Chelsea’s unsettled defender Alex, although Warnock was keen not to speculate.
“We have a number of people we’re looking at,” he said. “I won’t be commenting on anybody. It is not fair really.
“We’re looking at a number of players and we need experience in certain positions and also we need goals.”

Fulham manager Martin Jol has urged Andrew Johnson to sign a new contract at Craven Cottage despite interest from QPR.
Johnson’s current deal is due to expire this summer and he had been discussing a contract extension prior to a bid being tabled by the R’s.
That offer was snubbed by Fulham, and Jol says the 30-year-old still has the option of re-signing.
“There has been a lot of speculation [about Fulham players] but for him it was different,” Jol said. “QPR made an offer for him but it wasn’t good enough to even think about.
“If I could get another striker that is better than him then we’d have to pay a lot of money so it would be silly to let him go for what was offered.
Jol confirmed: “There is a contract offer still on the table, and I want him to stay.”

There is no way that the money Jol would need is what Johnson is worth. What I mean is that if Jol did want Nicky Maynard and he cost £4m for instance then there is no way we should be spending £4m to get AJ.

Rovers have already turned down an approach from QPR.

Rubbish about Collins. Played with Gabbi at Wet Spam and made him look good, just like he is making Dunne look like a defender. Definately a good buy, just like Young. McCleish hasn't a clue and we should take all his 'cast offs' like what they are. Good premiership players!!!
