Bath City out of FA Youth Cup after underpants row13:07 GMT, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 By Neil Johnston Bath City were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup after a row over underpants Bath City had five players sent off as an FA Youth Cup tie descended into farce following a row over underpants. City boss Billy Clark was also dismissed by referee Darren Adie, who ruled players' underwear breached rules during Newport County's 6-0 win. Underwear must be the same colour as the shorts but Bath's white pants were visible below their black shorts. "It was all very surreal. I was angry with the officials," said Bath managing director Paul Williams. "Rules are rules but the officiating wasn't what it should have been for a youth cup tie. "Why didn't the officials check the colours before the start? Every team has to submit a report about the officials to the FA. Let's just say our is a very long report Paul Williams Bath Managing Director "Every team has to submit a report about the officials to the FA. Let's just say ours is a very long report." Defender Billy Cooper was first to be sent off during the first qualifying round tie at Newport. Manager Clark was then punished for dissent and ordered from the dugout, while Ciaran Rogers, Zemell Burton, Ben Bicknell and goalkeeper Lewis Pierre also saw red. A statement on Bath's official website said: "We had been expecting to publish a match report of last night's FA Youth Cup first qualifying match between Bath Academy and the Newport County Academy. "Due to the controversial events that took place during the match - and the fact the vast majority of the players in the match are under 18 - we will not do so at this time." Newport County secretary Mike Everett said he had no complaints about the referee's performance. "I understand that the initial problem was regarding incorrect undergarments," he said. "The referee made his decisions. There's not a lot I can add." newsvote.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/15073916.stm

Elsewhere two players got sent off for having a fight over who would take a penalty. Can't remember which game it was in.

Football is becoming the theater of the absurd. Also bullying of minnows. Could you see them
trying to colour code ManUs underwear.
FA manned by dysfunctional misfits beating up the weak with their rulebooks.

New rule, "all men whom have ginger pubic hair are not allowed to play football against teams that wear red strips in case there is a colour conflict" - English FA 2011.

This is Bath FA kicks off probe into underwear row Bath City youth match The Football Association is investigating a Bath City youth match after the referee sent off six members of the team in a row over the colour of the players' underwear. 1. Bath City goalkeeper Lewis Pierre becomes the fifth player to be sent off after a row about players wearing the wrong-coloured pants Bath City goalkeeper Lewis Pierre becomes the fifth player to be sent off after a row about players wearing the wrong-coloured pants Trouble kicked off during an FA Youth Cup clash against Newport County when the official enforced a little-known rule that players should wear the same colour pants as their shorts. Two players from Bath City Academy were ordered to change their underwear, with their opponents Newport County scoring as they stripped on the sidelines. The goal sparked a series of heated exchanges between Bath players and the referee, leading to the dismissal of five players and the manager for dissent. Bath eventually slumped to a 6-0 defeat. The official was forced to lock himself in his dressing room after the game following a barrage of protests. Yesterday, furious Bath chairman Manda Rigby said: “I understand the kit rule but this was a Youth Cup match – not a professional game. “The players were made to strip off in front of the crowd, which is quite an ordeal for players aged 16 or 17. “That sparked the row which led to the players and the manager getting sent off." A spokesman for the FA said they were looking into the incident in conjunction with the Welsh FA, which would have provided the official for the match. www.thisisbath.co.uk/FA-kicks-probe-underwear-row-Bath-City-youth/story-13419052-detail/story.html

It's official, the world is gone mad. This is so ridiculous that it is hard to believe it actually happened. So much for referees using common sense.
