The pair are out of favour with Rangers, and former agent Paladini has been dispatched to do what he can for his countrymen, while at the same time saving Rangers money on contracts that don’t run out until summer 2012. Winger Alberti signed a four-year deal when he joined Hoops from Chievo in 2008, but has started just six league games. Last season he was loaned out to AC Lumezzane in the third tier of Italian football. Striker Pellicori scored just once in 10 games, although he got a three-year contract from Avellino in 2009, and was on loan at Torino in the last campaign.

A lot of those other long contracts are set to expire in June of 2012.
So this "Paladini Mission" should have been undertaken 2-3 years ago!

It wasnt "the club" that gave out these contracts, it was Gianni Paladini. He was up to no good, only a complete idiot or aspirational member of "the free seat elite" could fail to see what is blatantly staring them in the face.

! FLASHBACK:
QPR Report Blog
Wednesday, May 07, 2008 Chievo Verona's Matteo Alberti Reportedly to QPR -Not yet announced by either clubs - possibly because the transfer window has not yet officially opened? - but reportedly, QPR are signing a 19 year old from Italy, Matteo Alberto from the Italian club Serie B club, Chievo Verona (About Chievo Verona). He's apparently made one appearance for Verona. Various fans reported on him being introduced at the club's Annual Fans Dinner on Sunday (and there were photos on the web of Alberto at the QPR Dinner!) [Photo by Nico - www.pbase.com/nickdemarco/image/96611795] And it's reported in the Italian press. (There's also reportedly an August friendly scheduled between the two clubs.) See QPR Italia Blog QPR Italia Blog WebTranslation Tuesday, 06 May 2008 Matthew Alberti: the first Italian for the purchase of the QPR Briatore? Calciomercato.com -The usually well-informed Violanews.com and Calciomercato.com is reported news published by the Gazzetta dello Sport and date for certain: "The Queens Park Rangers established the first purchase of the Italian Briatore: Matthew Alberti, outside of Chievo striker, 19 years, with contract technical training. In June would have been easy 'prey' club foreigners. Alberti play in England but this is not a theft because the Qpr has reached an agreement with Chievo: compensation of around 400 thousand euros a friendly on August 2 in London, whose collection is divided down the middle. " Eurosport conferma: Eurosport confirmation: "" "First Italian for the purchase of the QPR Briatore: This is Matthew Alberti, 19enne attacker outside of Chievo" Translation In Italian: QPR Italia - martedì, 06 maggio 2008 Matteo Alberti: primo acquisto italiano per il QPR dell'era Briatore? Chievo Verona. In addition, QPR announced they will play a friendly against AC Chievo Verona at Loftus Road, August 2. QPR Official Site EXCLUSIVE: ITALIAN AGREES DEAL Queens Park Rangers Football Club have reached agreement with A.C Chievo Verona for the transfer of Matteo Alberti. The 19 year-old will officially put pen to paper on a four-year contract on Tuesday 1st July, after the two Clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for his services. Alberti is yet to make his full league debut for the Serie B side, but the Brescia-born midfielder is extremely highly-rated in Italy, and the R's have beaten off stiff competition from a number of top Serie A Clubs for his signature. As part of the agreement, Alberti's former Club will travel to Loftus Road for a prestigious pre-season friendly on Saturday 2nd August 2008 - kick-off 3.00pm. QPR QPR Official Site - ITALIANS COMING TO W12 QPR will play runaway Serie B leaders A.C Chievo Verona in August, as part of their pre-season schedule ahead of the 2008/09 Championship campaign. The 'Mussi Volanti', or 'flying donkeys' as it translates, will travel to Loftus Road on Saturday 2nd August 2008 - kick-off 3.00pm. The Verona-based outfit currently top Serie B with 80 points from their 39 matches played and look sure-fire certainties to secure the title and return to the top tier of Italian football. QPR qprreport.blogspot.com/2008/05/qpr-confirm-italian-signingaugust.htmlAnd QPR Italia's Wally West at the time assessing Alberti "... Matteo Alberti
We know very little about him. He never played in the first team (and Chievo were in Serie B...), some people speak well of him but there's those who are highly dubious about him as well. He appears to be well built for the Championship, but I can't say anything about how he plays. We really don't know him. www.qpr.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=114591#ixzz1XFVRKo6G

Paladini will probably come back, tell us he's 'sold' them on an exchange basis and bring back four Eyetie no-hopers to take their place.
