Should I give Charlton boot?
I HAVE a major problem.
As you know, and I have bored you rigid about for seasons, I support Charlton and have done so for 12 years.
I moved to the family friendly Valley after becoming disenchanted with the atmosphere of intimidation at Millwall.
A cursory glance at The Championship table shows we are 11 points adrift at the bottom and will be playing Division One football next season. Hello Yeovil.
Our team is hopeless and the management slightly worse.
I have an uneasy feeling that we might struggle to avoid Division Two.
This is my problem: I don’t want to watch Division One football or route one clogging from empty stands.
I’ve enjoyed the Championship as the skills are high, the tactical thinking is good and if you are lucky enough to have a decent manager – I’m particularly taken by Mick McCarthy – you will have an entertaining season.
Since supporting Charlton I’ve moved home and it’s now a 130-mile round trip.
So my dilemma is this: Shall I give the Addicks one more season or move to Queen’s Park Rangers, who are literally 40 minutes away and who will supply the Championship games I yearn for?
I am in a quandary – can you help me?
