Hmmm legacy of the Teflon Don Most of the club's debt, the stain on our Championship title and the club's good name being dragged through the gutter is his legacy.

Football League's agent payments rocket Published 22:29 26/08/11 By Mike Walters .Former England manager Graham Taylor once admitted he would like to have agents lined up against a wall and shot. But according to figures released by the Football League, even the Great Wall of China may not be long enough to accommodate his wish. In 2010-11, Football League clubs splashed out more than £16.6million on agent fees – a 23 per cent increase on the previous season – with Championship clubs accounting for £14m of that. QPR spent most, £1.77m, followed by Middlesbrough (£1.59m) and Leicester (£1.28m) in an age when Championship clubs have yet to agree new financial fair-play rules. League chairman Greg Clarke warned: “These figures show a considerable amount of money continues to leave the game through payments to agents. “No one is trying to prevent clubs from paying agents where they feel it’s appropriate, but we must make sure clubs aren’t spending money they simply don’t have. This highlights the importance of the work Football League clubs are carrying out to establish a break-even business model across all three divisions.” Clubs paid agents in 570 transactions, up 31 per cent, but Accrington, Macclesfield, Cheltenham, Barnet, Crewe, Hartlepool, Stevenage and Stockport did not use any. Watford chairman Taylor was asked by an agent for a “search fee” for a Cambridge striker he tracked while Hornets boss. He said: “I don’t object to search fees for unearthing a player in the Amazon. But it’s only 60 miles from Watford to Cambridge, and I don’t need a guide to help me find it.” * CHAMPIONSHIP CLUBS' AGENT FEES IN 2010-11 SEASON QPR £1,770,282 Middlesbrough £1,598,228 Leicester City £1,280,200 Hull City £993,026 Reading £946,425 Leeds United £788,630 Norwich City £683,200 Portsmouth £674,920 Bristol City £653,900 Cardiff City £613,510 Nottingham Forest £450,900 Burnley £434,795 Doncaster Rovers £387,770 Ipswich Town £376,352 Barnsley £358,320 Coventry City £314,967 Crystal Palace £293,180 Derby County £289,500 Sheffield United £284,684 Swansea City £238,760 Preston North End £193,250 Watford £173,896 Millwall £172,000 Sc**thorpe United £119,008 QPR New Registration Transfer 34 Updated Contracts 12 Cancelled Contracts 0 Loans 19 Total transactions 65 Total spent on Agents -24 Clubs £14,089,702 Average spent on Agents per Club £587,070.
