Ahh, now that Rowan is back, that explains why all has gone silent on the DJ Campbell front, we just don't need him anymore with Vine back in the fold

One Year flashback (and several hundred thousand pounds ago) Rowan ready to pack his bags at QPR04 August 2010 Kilburn Times -By Dave McIntyre and Ben KoskyROWAN Vine has confirmed he expects to leave QPR soon on a free transfer after beginning negotiations to cancel his contract. The Rangers forward has been frozen out during pre-season, featuring in the reserves instead of the first team, and is anxious to reignite his career away from Loftus Road. The Rs attempted to loan him out on more than one occasion last season, but are now resigned to cutting their losses and reaching a settlement on the final year of Vine's contract. "I had a couple of conversations with the manager and he told me that it's going to be tough for me to get into the team," said Vine. "The club have a plan in terms of what they want to do. They think it's best that we come to an agreement, then I can be a free agent and, if it's going to go that way, then obviously I need to do the best I can for myself after leaving QPR. "In terms of other clubs, there's nothing concrete right now. The main thing at the moment is to sort things out with QPR. "It's now clear that I won't be going out on loan or anything like that - it's going to be a free transfer and then seeing who's interested. I feel I'm getting fitter by the day and the main thing now is to play more games. "I'm still fully confident and will be looking to play at the highest level I can. "If I don't get a club in the Championship then I will be disappointed, but I know the bottom line is that I have to go and get some football." The 27-year-old first joined Rangers on loan from Birmingham City in October 2007 and completed a permanent £1m transfer three months later. He was one of the key figures in the Rs' rise up the Championship table in the second half of that season, but then suffered a broken leg in a freak training ground collision with goalkeeper Matt Pickens. Although Vine finally returned to action a year later, he struggled to reproduce his previous form and was unable to hold down a regular place in the Rangers side last season. www.kilburntimes.co.uk/content/camden/kilburntimes/QPR/story.aspx?brand=KLBTOnline&category=QPRNews&tBrand=KLBTOnline&tCategory=defaultQPR&itemid=WeED04+Aug+2010+12%3A21%3A26%3A867

STAR
Rovers net Albion stary Steve Hossack Doncaster Rovers Published on Friday 5 August 2011 04:30 DONCASTER Rovers boosted their squad prior to tomorrow’s opening Championship fixture at Brighton yesterday afternoon when signing former Derby and West Bromwich star Giles Barnes on a five-month deal.“The deal probably suits us and suits Giles, though he may be ruing that decision come Christmas,” said Rovers’ boss Sean O’Driscoll. “It was probably our only option to try and do that on a short-term basis. “He suffered a nasty Achilles tendon injury at West Brom and he needs to get his career back on track. I’m surprised that he was available on a free. “We tried to get him on loan last season but we already had six players on loan so it would have been a bit awkward. But we kept in touch with the boy and his agent. “He’d been at Nottingham Forest for two or three weeks but they set their sights higher. He had an open invitation to come in and train. “He came in at the end of last week and played at Grimsby last Friday and did really well and he also did well in training so we made a quick decision.”
The club’s decision means that QPR striker Rowan Vine, who had been with Rovers since the first day of pre-season, will not sign. “Ideally we’d liked to have kept both of them,” said O’Driscoll, who said that Barnes’ versatility had helped sway their decision.[/u] “Giles can play in various positions and he’s got pace and power and he’s only 23 (today). He’s six-foot plus and he ticks a lot of boxes.” Barnes is likely to feature in Rovers’ squad at Brighton.... www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/doncaster/rovers_net_albion_star_1_3649396

I don't blame Rowan for sitting out his contract. The club have behaved very badly towards him since the injury.
Rangers should have come to a settlement so he could get a deal as a free agent.
