Obviously This is The Star... The Star CHELSEA OWNER ROMAN ABRAMOVICH KOS PLAN TO LEAVE BRIDGE DAILY STAR SUNDAY 24th July 2011 By Carl Eldridge CHELSEA have scrapped plans to quit Stamford Bridge and build a new 60,000-capacity super stadium.
Billionaire Blues owner Roman Abramovich and his executives were exploring the option of moving out of their home of the past 106 years to a new arena in nearby Earls Court. But the land on which the Earls Court exhibition centre stands is set to become a housing estate. More than 8,000 homes will be built there once the Olympics have ended next summer. It means it looks like Chelsea have lost the chance to build a new ground in west London – but they could still move further afield. Meanwhile, Blues chief executive Ron Gourlay will redouble his efforts to sell the naming rights to the 42,000-capacity ground. That follows Manchester City securing a huge £400million, ten-year deal to rename their City of Manchester ground as the Etihad Stadium. Gourlay is keen to secure a deal so that Chelsea, who run at a huge loss, can comply with the soon-to-be-introduced UEFA Financial Fair Play initiative. The Blues’ shirt sponsors Samsung are said to be front-runners for the naming rights, which could possibly include the four stands within the ground being renamed too. www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/202661/Chelsea-owner-Roman-Abramovich-KOs-plan-to-leave-Bridge/

You would think they would want to go bigger than 60,000. Both The Emirates and Old Trafford have a bigger capacity than that.

Paris would be nice. They could use eurostar for home games.
