WADDOCK SIGNS NEW CONTRACT
Posted on: Fri 08 Jul 2011
Wanderers have been handed a major boost ahead of the 2011/12 campaign with the news that manager Gary Waddock has signed a new three-year contract to remain at Adams Park until 2014.
The 49-year-old, who arrived at the club in October 2009, guided the Blues back to League 1 last season with a club record 80 points, becoming the only manager in the Football League to lead a relegated side to automatic promotion at the first attempt.
"The future looks extremely bright and encouraging and I'm delighted to commit my future to the club," he told Chairboys Player.
"It's been a home to me since day one - a lot of hard work has been done and all we want to do is build on those foundations to take the club forward.
"Steve (Hayes) has got a vision and a plan for this football club and everything is in place to achieve further success."
Owner Steve Hayes told wwfc.com: "For me, this is one of the most important signings the club has made in a long time and I am hugely delighted that Gary has pledged his future to Wycombe Wanderers.
"We have a fantastic working relationship; one which I am very much looking forward to continuing as we move into an exciting new era."
Waddock has been in charge of the Blues for 88 matches, making him the 28th longest-serving of the 92 league managers in the country. He began his coaching career with hometown club Queens Park Rangers, working initially with the academy before being appointed first-team manager in 2006.
The 22-time Republic of Ireland international moved to Aldershot Town in May 2007 and guided the Shots into the Football League the following season with 101 points, earning him the title of Conference Manager of the Year.
After establishing the Hampshire outfit in League 2, Waddock accepted the post at Adams Park following Peter Taylor's departure and has since established a fantastic rapport with players, staff and fans alike.
Gary will be back at Adams Park next season - will you be? Click below for details of our membership packages for 2011/12.
