As noted by "Jeff" on LFWHearts Official Site
Hearts statement 24.06.2011 The Hearts Board of Directors has issued the following statement in relation to outside influences on players and the club.
"What's happening with the club today is not a new thing. For almost 7 years we have been fighting to shield the club from crooks, criminals and thieves. Many of the top players at the club have felt the bitter results of the swindles that have been carried out with them on their own skin. Skacel and Webster have returned to the club after realising where these 'football patriots' have led them."Over a short space of time 4 players at our club have been on the wrong end of the law. We note that 3 of them are represented by the same agent - Gary Mackay - who has been so vicious in his attacks against Mr Romanov. "Taking into account the facts that have been omitted by the media it can be presumed that each of these cases is not a coincidence, but the result of targeted actions of a mafia that wants to manipulate the club and the results. "Every year Hearts fights to be in the top 3, but even last season in the last 12 games of the season it was almost like someone replaced the team with a different one. Whose fault is that? Players? Manager's? Or it is mafia. "Stealing players, bad games, problems with the law - all of that on top of record SFA fines. Problems are just shifted to another level. "Mafia are dragging kids into the crime, in order to blackmail and profit on them. It is not possible to separate these people from pedophiles, and you don't need to do that. Each year we are forced to fight against these maniacs harder and harder. We are standing in their way not letting them manipulate the game of football in the way they want. As such they undermine us in every possible way they can. "The task of the club is to tear these kids out of hands of criminals." Hearts.TV and Hearts News will be with the squad all the way next week as Jim Jefferies put his players through a tough training camp in Tuscany. www.heartsfc.co.uk/articles/20110624/hearts-statement_2241384_2381659

My brother-in-law has a Hearts season ticket , and he and many others are livid that a certain Craig Thomson, has not been sacked yet . Thomson pleaded guilty to lewd, libidinous and indecent behaviour after engaging in sexual conversations with the girls, aged 12 and 14, by chatting with them over Facebook, email and webcams.. If this is not a sackable offense , i am at a loss as to what is .

Beyond the specifics, what kind of Board of Directors issues such a statement?

Beyond the specifics, what kind of Board of Directors issues such a statement? The one led by a lunatic. Any similarities? I'm ashamed to share my (only) nationality with this man('s second). And I genuinely feel sorry for Hearts supporters. It's a statement written using Google Translate... (I think he uses it to make Lithuanian speeches as well)

I remember when the Owner basically sacked the Manager when they were running away with the Championship - Which is almost impossible for anybody but Celtic/Rangers to do these days. But excessive hands on control is one thing. This is more than conspiracy posts we used to read from OUR beloved Chairman about "Enemies Within" trying to bring down the club, blah, blah (additional quotes available upon request! )

Meanwhile at Birmingham: Board "involvement" in transfers claimed MIRROR Blues board furious over transfer policy claims Published 15:29 25/06/11 By MirrorFootball The board of Birmingham have reacted angrily to reports suggesting they interfered in the transfer policy of former boss Alex McLeish. Blues have issued a new statement insisting they operate a "robust system" under which every completed transfer is signed off by the manager. The club claim in the statement by way of example that interest in players such as former Liverpool striker Ryan Babel, who is now in Germany with Hoffenheim, Peter Odemwingie, the Nigerian forward who plays for West Brom, and Stoke winger Jermaine Pennant was not followed up because McLeish did not want to sign them. The Scot resigned from his role with Birmingham earlier this month before joining bitter rivals Aston Villa. Birmingham are involved in a legal dispute over McLeish's exit and subsequent arrival at Villa, while the Scot has claimed he did not have a free hand in transfer dealings and that the dismissal of the club's chief scout Paul Montgomery contributed to his decision to resign. The statement from Birmingham today read: "The club is disturbed and very concerned with the recent reporting by selective, and we believe agenda-led, reporters suggesting that the Birmingham City board had interfered with the previous manager in the transfer market. That is factually incorrect and the club did, on June 14, 2011, release a statement stating our position. "It is reiterated very strongly that there is a robust system in place whereby only players with the written authorisation of the manager had ever arrived at the club under the previous manager and will still be the case going forward. "Players recommended by the board, such as, Babel, Odemwingie, Pennant and a Chinese player, for commercial reasons, didn't arrive as no approval was forthcoming from the manager. "Players such as (Fulham forward Mousa) Dembele chose not to come and (Wigan winger Charles) N'Zogbia due to his sudden demand for a last-minute increase in wages. "In the case of (Bobby) Zamora, it was felt there had been quite a few injuries and anyway he signed a massive new contract at Fulham due to our approach. "As the legal dispute is ongoing, it is appropriate that this myth of interference is put to rest once and for all." www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Birmingham-board-furious-over-Alex-McLeish-transfer-policy-claims-article752383.html

BBC Scotland
Hearts urged to sack online sex offender Craig Thomson
Craig Thomson Thomson was placed on the register over internet contact with two girls * Hearts face SFA probe over tirade news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/13915721.stm * Hearts stick with 'sorry' Thomson news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/13901775.stm * Footballer placed on sex register www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-13808562Charity Children 1st has called for Hearts player Craig Thomson to be sacked after he was put on the sex offenders register. The 20-year-old has been convicted for indecent behaviour towards two girls aged 12 and 14 on the internet. The club said they were keeping the player as there were mitigating circumstances which provided assurance his conduct would not be repeated. Children 1st insisted Hearts need to look again at the issue. The charity's policy manager Kate Higgins told BBC Radio 5 live: "We believe that Hearts football club needs to look again at this situation, not taking action to protect children from the risk of sexual harm is unacceptable. "Allowing convicted sex offenders to continue working where they will have direct and indirect contact with children is wrong." Thomson was placed on the sex offenders register earlier this month after pleading guilty to two charges of indecent behaviour. He was also fined £4,000 for his lewd, libidinous and indecent behaviour towards two girls, aged 12 and 14, over the internet. Hearts said it would go through the "necessary internal procedures relating to the case". On Friday the Scottish Premier League club said Thomson's "grave error of judgement" was due to "naivety and possible wrong outside influence". The full-back resumed training at the club with immediate effect. He issued an apology via the club website, saying that he is "fully aware that I have let everyone down". Hearts posted two statements on the matter on their website. The first read: "The club views this matter very seriously and does not condone the behaviour of the player. Appropriate action to prevent any further development of unlawful activities has been taken. "In reaching this decision, the club accepted that there are sufficient mitigating circumstances that provide significant assurance that the player's conduct, no matter how distasteful, was the result of a grave error of judgement due to naivety and possible wrong outside influence rather than anything more sinister and it will not be repeated." Then, early on Friday evening, the club issued another statement which refers to "outside influences on players and the club". www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-13918842

Don't get me wrong - I probably would sack him, but he can't have that much contact with children playing football on the field.
If he's not imprisoned he must do something, working somewhere. Or is unemployed sex offender less dangerous? What difference does it make if he plays football or cleans the streets? Is playing football some kind of privilege that sex offenders must be deprived of?

As a result he cannot partake in the club, once on the register it is forbidden. I am surprised there was any time spent in not removing him.
