Rushden & Diamonds kicked out of the Conference Rushden & Diamonds have today been expelled from the Blue Square Bet Premier at the league's annual general meeting. The decision was taken in light of the club's precarious financial position, which meant they could not guarantee being able to fulfil their fixtures for the 2011-12 season. On Monday they will face a court hearing after a major creditor issued a winding-up order over unpaid debts. Rushden, managed by former Tottenham defender Justin Edinburgh, suffered a five-point deduction last season after being found guilty of submitting incorrect financial information. "We've been informed of the decision to expel us from the division," said Steve Beasant, the club`s chairman. "We weren't allowed to attend the AGM as we were suspended from membership so we were not allowed to voice our opinion." Beasant also added that the club will now apply to take its place in the Zamaretto League. Edinburgh, who recently penned a new contract, said: "It's very sad news, especially for the fans as they have been so loyal. I really built up a rapport with them. "I did sign a new deal but if there's no club to manage, what can you do? I don't know where this leaves me. "I hope they survive but then we'll have to see what league they go into. "This will all unravel over the next few days but it's just a very sad situation." The club was formed in 1992 as the result of a merger between Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds. At the turn of the Millennium the club enjoyed a four-year spell in the Football League, spending the 2003/04 season in League One. Southport, who finished fourth from bottom of the Conference, have been reprieved. Official Statement Rushden Club Statement Posted on: Sat 11 Jun 2011 The following statement has been released by Steven Beasant following news that Rushden & Diamonds FC have been expelled from the Football Conference. The statement is reproduced "as is" below. Rushden & Diamonds FC Ltd Club Statement Saturday 11th June 2011 By Steven Beasant CEO. Article continues Advertisement It has been some weeks since we have made any official statement this is due to complex contractual reasons which the Directors after taking legal advice were advised. Since the Cloverdale Winding-Up petition became public and all banking accounts became frozen, astonishing efforts have and are being made by all supporters, staff, Directors past & present & many others to assist the Club in its hour of need to which we express our un-reserved gratitude. The Club has been in an impossible position due to these restrictions but I wish to personally record my sincere thanks to Rachael Roberts & all our staff who have kept our doors open & continued working without pay. The Clubs issues are complex and have been effected by various factors & organisations which we will report as follows:- ·Trading accounts for 2010/11 show losses exceeding assets compounded by reduced income & increased expenditure. Trading figures will also show excessive running costs of Nene Park due to age, service issues & the major damage & loss of Club shop due to severe flooding prior to Christmas, " insurers have yet to settle claim". ·1st December to late January the catalogue of tragic events need no detailing. ·Conference has disciplined The Club for various breaches & since Winding -up petition we have been suspended from Membership. On Monday 6th June we attended hearing where we tabled all matters including details of "two" Investment Consortiums which in conjunction with freeholder's, terms & conditions had been agreed. Framework / timetable requested by League was met by 5pm Wednesday 8th which was then varied after Leagues Board meeting on Thursday 9th, we were advised (not consulted) of these changes late on Thursday 9th making impossible demands to be met by 3pm Friday 10th. That said Keith Cousins(who has been negotiating Investments) proposed to deposit a large sum of funds to be held by leagues lawyers in order to demonstrate strength of Investors. but this was rejected by League (Dennis Strudwick) & their lawyers Clintons(Mel Stein). The amount rejected was £350k which was in-excess of all Winding-up creditors & football creditors, & was first instalment of investment. This rejection by the League terminated preferred investor being "The Glen Hoddle Academy" as inclusion within Premier league was critical to terms. ·Second Investors still wish to proceed but on varied terms which will take a further week to complete but we now face expulsion from membership & being banned from attending AGM to voice position to all members that we believe the league are acting outside their rules & Company Law if they vote to terminate our membership. ·Monday 13th June we will be seeking adjournment of petition based upon pending investment which is in the best interests of all creditors & Club, this is now putting Club at risk of liquidation should order not be granted & is due solely to the Leagues action. The above is a synopsis of the events that have been taking place for the past several weeks & is an attempt to inform on matters up to today. We wish to state that as Directors we are acting in the best interests of The Club & record the exceptional endeavours that Keith Cousins has & is making with us to safe-guard our Club & we will make further statement during next week. Update to Earlier StatementPosted on: Sat 11 Jun 2011 Steve Beasant has provided a further update to his earlier statement. We are taking legal advice and, although we have not received an official statement, members at the AGM have confirmed our expulsion from the league. We have 14 days to appeal and will be taking full legal advice immediately. Due to this devastating news & the barrage of emails and calls being received from all supporters we will be calling an open fans forum next week in order to evaluate our Clubs position. The Directors assure all supporters we will do all in our power to overturn this ruling whilst continuing to secure the Clubs long term security. my father in laws gutted for BISHOPS STORTFORD , Thurrock put into Conference south and B Stortford finished mid table but because Bishops stortford are the team nearest the north , they get chucked into conference north , having played for years in the south and doing no wrong . All the teams they will have to now visit will cost thousands.

Rushden expelled from Conference Page last updated at 13:48 GMT, Saturday, 11 June 2011 14:48 UK E-mail this to a friendPrintable version Rushden & Diamonds have been expelled from the Football Conference for financial reasons, ahead of a hearing for a winding-up petition on Monday.
"The primary reason why we've been expelled is because of the financial issues with the winding-up petition," said chief executive Steve Beasant.
Relegated Southport earn a reprieve as Diamonds' fate means they will stay up.
Thurrock will remain in the Blue Square Bet South, while Bishop's Stortford will move to Blue Square Bet North.
Hopes of being rescued by a consortium linked in with the Glenn Hoddle Academy were dashed on Friday.
And, although the club made a presentation to the Football Conference AGM concerning their status for next season, they have now lost their place in the league.
"We've had two investment consortiums show interest in taking over the club and injecting money," Beasant told BBC Radio Northampton.
"We needed more time to get that interest confirmed.
"We've got a business model and we had investors but the conditions put on us by the Conference made the deal impossible."
Rushden & Diamonds chief executive Beasant says that Diamonds will now aim to find a place in next season's Zamaretto League - a drop of at least two divisions.
"We'd have to make representation to them to be included, so we'll deal with that on Monday," he said. "But the priority is to make sure that the club isn't wound up on Monday.
"We've got to deal with the winding-up petition. We're looking for an adjournment."
Cash-strapped Rushden's financial problems have been well documented.
They were fined £2,000 and docked five points last month, leading to them being demoted one place to 13th in the final Blue Square Bet Premier table.
Rushden were created in 1992 when club founder Max Griggs merged Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds.
He was then at the helm for 11 years, building a new home at Nene Park, during which time he took the club into the Football League in 2001.
But Griggs stepped down at the age of 65 in October 2003, deciding that he has done all he could do for them.
He gave the stadium and 22 acres of land to the club's Supporters Trust in 2005.
But the former owner resigned as life president in January 2007, following an argument over land.

The Zameretto League is the Southern League and is one of the 3 leagues that makes up the 3rd tier of Non-league football (The Isthmian League and the Northern alliance being the other 2). The Premeirship title & play-off winners of these 3 leagues will get promoted to the Conference N & S - so in fact this league forms part of the 7th tier of League and non-League football.
However it is more complex than that as these 3 leagues then have leagues below that - in this case the Southern League is split into Div 1 Central & Div1 S&W. So R&D might go down 2 divs or 3 divs depending on where they end up, although in all likelihood they will probably begin life in the SL Div 1 S&W.
Cambridge City, Oxford City, Swindon Supermarine and Bashley are some of the teams that play in the SL premiership.
All sad but I find it strange that they can decide on the fate of a club - and I'm not going not the merits of whether it has been justified or not - without inviting them to give their side of the story, whatever the merits of which "rules" they are trying to follow.

But how unfair Phil , Thurrock were relegated from Conferance south to Ryman prem , they get reprieved and go back into Confrerence south , Stortford finish mid table and yet have to go and play in a totally different division.

Stortford were the most northerly of the clubs in the Conference South so there really was no option but to move them to the north. It could all change again as there are strong rumours that Stockport will not make the start of the season in the Conference.
If Rushden are still alive & playing in the Southern League it will be very interesting to see which side is moved to the Isthmian to accomodate them. Could be St Albans or my team Chesham returning to their roots. Am not sure that either cdlub would be in favour though!

I'd have loved to have seen Stocport survive but with Shitty & Manure so close was there ever a chance?

But wait BBC Rushden & Diamonds winding-up petition adjourned IN ASSOCIATION WITH Page last updated at 10:38 GMT, Monday, 13 June 2011 11:38 UK * E-mail this to a friend * Printable version Rushden & Diamonds A winding-up petition brought against Rushden & Diamonds has been adjourned for 21 days. Northampton County Court heard on Monday that the Diamonds expect to be able to pay their creditors in the form of finance from Japanese investors. The petition is headed by catering company Cloverdale, who are owed in the region of £65,000. But the club owes money to a range of creditors, including a debt of around £189,000 to HM Revenue & Customs. The last three days have been turbulent for the Northamptonshire side, after the Football Conference kicked them out of next season's competition. League officials concluded the club could not prove its financial viability for the next campaign, but Diamonds chief executive Steve Beasant said they would take legal advice about a potential appeal within 14 days. A potential takeover by an investment consortium backing the Glenn Hoddle Academy was ruled out on Friday. newsvote.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/13749593.stm

Is that like Chelsea offering QPR fans an opportunity for a direct swop of QPR season tickets for Chelsea tickets? Northampton Chronicle
BREAKING NEWS: Rushden & Diamonds fans can swap season ticket for one at SixfieldsRushden & Diamonds fans who have already bought a season ticket for the forthcoming season at Nene Park are being given the chance to exchange it for one at Cobblers.Northampton Town Football Club has made the offer following Rushden & Diamonds’s expulsion from the Blue Square Premier Division. Rushden & Diamonds to launch Conference appeal
Rushden & Diamonds have said they will lodge an appeal against their expulsion from the Conference. The crisis club were kicked out of the competition on 11 June for financial reasons. Diamonds officials had said they were considering a legal appeal, but it is believed the challenge will first go through the Football Association. Rushden are also fighting a winding-up petition, after the initial hearing on 13 June was adjourned for 21 days. A takeover bid from a Japanese property maintenance firm, which would save the Northamptonshire side, is thought to be dependent on the Diamonds being in the Blue Square Bet Premier next season. newsvote.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/13856120.stm
