"Flashback" Found one reference, QPR Official Site - NO SIGNINGS TODAY Posted on: Sat 26 Nov 2005 After a spending all day on the phone Ian Holloway has finally admitted defeat in his quest to bring in a loan signing. The deadline for bringing in loan players is set at 5pm on Thursday evening, after that time no players can be brought in until the January transfer window. Holloway said: "We have tried every Premiership club, but there was no-one available. We almost got a kid called Danny Graham from Middlesbrough but he chose to go to Derby County instead. "There was money in the pot to bring someone in but sadly it just didn't come off for us." Read more: qprreport.proboards.com/index.cgi....9#ixzz1CYjnH4aU

www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_6940962,00.html Sky Sports News sources understand that Queens Park Rangers have bid for Watford star Danny Graham. The striker was a revelation in the Championship in the 2010/11 campaign and finished as the division's top scorer with 24 goals. Skysports.com revealed last week that Newcastle are showing an interest in Graham as Alan Pardew attempts to replace Andy Carroll. But QPR, who will face Newcastle in the Premier League next season after winning the Championship, are understood to have made the first move by tabling a bid. QPR manager Neil Warnock confirmed earlier on Thursday that planning was already well under way for the new campaign and that is likely to include transfer targets. It has also been suggested that Warnock could be forced to wave goodbye to some of his key assets, but he insists that is not the case. He told QPR's official website: "I've been given assurances that I won't have to sell my better players. "I'm working hard behind the scenes in a bid to improve the squad ahead of the new campaign."

Watford have rejected the bid apparently.
Which is strange if the amount kicks the clause in to play.

I'd rather Boothroyd for free, then pay extra for a proven premier league striker to go along side boothroyd.

BBC
Watford reject bids for Danny Graham and Will BuckleyWatford have rejected a bid for around £2.5m for striker Danny Graham from QPR, BBC Three Counties Radio reports. It is also believed the Hornets have dismissed more than one offer from Brighton for winger Will Buckley. Graham, 25, is the Championship's top scorer with 24 goals, and has found the net 41 times in 98 games since arriving from Carlisle in 2009. Buckley, 22, a signing from Rochdale 16 months ago, has gone on to make 43 Watford appearances. The Hornets have suffered much publicised financial problems and selling leading marksman Graham would help ease their worries. But boss Malky Mackay has spoken of his determination to keep hold of Graham, and at the turn of the year the club handed him a two-year deal with the option of a further 12 months. If Graham were to leave Vicarage Road Carlisle would be entitled to a sell-on fee as part of the deal that saw the frontman move to Hertfordshire. Buckley has epitomised Watford's young enthusiasm this term, playing 37 times as the Hornets defied pre-season expectations by finishing 14th news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/13468214.stm

yeh but helgusons stock is higher than smiths at the mo.
tho he misses quite a few chances.
grahem would do well, and would ease pressure of taarbs and routledge to score goals.
mackie... i dunno. we only saw half a season of him, and will he come back at the same standard?

Queens Park Rangers' bid for Danny Graham rejected by Watford 11:55am Friday 20th May 2011
» Watford have rejected Queens Park Rangers’ bid for Danny Graham, the Watford Observer understands.
The newly-promoted side made a £2.5m offer for Graham yesterday and we understand that offer has been turned down by the Hornets.
Watford have made no secret the club needs to trade players to break even but with QPR, Newcastle United, Ipswich Town and Swansea City among the clubs said to be interested in the Championship’s leading scorer, talk of Graham leaving the Hornets is expected to continue in the coming weeks.
Graham signed from Carlisle United in the summer of 2009 for a tribunal-set fee of £350,000, with an extra £200,000 to be paid should the Hornets defy the odds and reach the Premier League next season.
The 25-year-old has scored 41 goals in 98 appearances for Watford, finishing as the division’s top scorer this season with 24.

Well this one looks like it's going to fall through now, I think Graham is holding out for a move to his home town of Newcastle.

I'd be reluctant to pay £4million on a striker who is yet to be proven at prem level. Especially if we keep the same formation ie just one up front.

WATFORD have rejected bids for two of their top stars.
Watford have rejected Premier League new boys QPR's bid £2.5m for striker Danny Graham while Brighton want winger Will Buckley.
Graham, 25, was the Championship’s top scorer with 24 goals and has found the net 41 times in 98 games since arriving from Carlisle in 2009.
Buckley, 22, a signing from Rochdale 16 months ago, has gone on to make 43 Watford appearances.
Graham has already signalled his intention to be in the Premier League next season.
“There’s going to be speculation. I’d be devastated if there wasn’t,” he said.
“I’m contracted to Watford. I love it here, but I’m not going to lie or kid anyone. I want to play at the top level.
“If that happens, it happens. If not, and another Championship club comes in, I’m not interested.
“I want to be a Premiership player. I’m not going to hide the fact but we’ll see what happens.”
Graham was given a new two-year deal at the start of the year with the option of a further 12 months.
If he leaves, former club Carlisle would be entitled to a slice of the fee as part of the deal that took him to Vicarage Road.

Carlisle Utd boss hoping for Danny Graham cash boost Last updated at 11:07, Saturday, 21 May 2011 Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott admits it would be a “welcome bonus” if sought-after striker Danny Graham earned the Cumbrians a six-figure windfall this summer. Danny GrahamWatford’s former Blues frontman is set to be the subject of a bidding war after it was revealed that QPR had a £2.5 million bid rejected for Graham. The striker is still expected to leave the Championship club with Newcastle and Ipswich also keen on the 25-year-old. And the Blues would benefit from any big-money move, as Carlisle secured a 15% sell-on clause when Graham left Brunton Park for the Hornets two years ago. Manager Abbott said United’s transfer plans did not hinge on whether Graham moved on this summer but insisted he would be ready to use any extra funds to boost his squad. “If Danny goes for big money we would get something, but that would be a bonus for me,” said the Carlisle boss. “It would be a very welcome bonus but it’s not something I’m hanging on and waiting for. “It would give us a boost if he did move and I was given some of the funds. “It would give us extra ammunition. “But the club needs revenue to keep the thing moving as well. It’s something we will look at if and when it happens.” Graham, who hit 27 goals last season for Malky Mackay’s side, was the subject of a £2.5 million bid from promoted QPR on Friday, according to reports. Loftus Road manager Neil Warnock is a long-time admirer of the former Middlesbrough striker and the signs are that QPR’s billionaire owners are ready to back the boss with cash in order to establish the London club in the Premier League. Graham joined Watford from United in a deal which has so far cost the Hornets £350,000 and could rise to £550,000 if Mackay’s side are promoted next season. Abbott – halfway through his two-week coaching stint in Saint Lucia – is hunting for the three or four summer signings he believes can turn United into serious promotion contenders. But he warned that there would be no big financial outlays this summer. “Everybody knows where I’m going to be in terms of wages and fees,” Abbott said. “Very low fees, if any, and wages at the level we are on now.” First published at 08:55, Saturday, 21 May 2011 Published by www.newsandstar.co.uk

The player you have been reading about on the other thread is almost certainly Danny Graham. I have been reliably informed today that he has signed already (yesterday) and the club will announce it in the next 24 hours? This seems strange not to announce it and knowing QPR's official website that will be sometime next week but the player that has already signed is Danny Graham no question. No other details known as yet. Will be interesting to see how he copes in the Premier league and I am assuming this is the first of many lower cost and lower WAGE players that are unproven at top level. oh dear! ;D
