COCA-COLA COMMUNITY CLUB OF THE YEAR
The Football League has announced that Southend United has won the Coca-Cola Community Club of the Year Award at the 2011 Football League Awards.
League clubs are at the very heart of 72 diverse communities across England and Wales, with over 1.5 million people participating in activities run by the 72 clubs each season. The Football League Trust has six core themes of health, disability, education, sports participation, social inclusion and environmental and this award recognises those community schemes that have excelled in each of these areas.
On winning the award, Southend United Community & Education Trust's Steve Goodsell said, "We shared the award with Watford last year so to win it outright is an outstanding achievement. We believe our scheme is one of the best in the county and we must pay tribute to Sarah Cox, our Health and Welfare Officer for her hard work in making this happen. The fans and local community really identify with what we do."
The judging panel for this category were impressed to see so many and such a wide range of projects really making a difference in the communities surrounding Football League clubs, using football as a means to inspire and change lives. They were particularly hugely impressed by the scope and impact shown by the work Southend United do in health with their Blues Bodycare project, truly outstanding.

Jennings Scoops FL Apprentice Award

Tranmere's Dale Jennings has been named as the Apprentice of the Year for League 1 at the Football League Awards in London.
The 18-year old beat Southampton's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and MK Dons' George Baldock to win the honour at a ceremony at the Brewery Hotel.
Jennings, in his first season as a professional, has scored five times in 21 league appearances this season, has won a number of Man of the Match awards and also won the Club's vote for the best goal of 2010 for his solo strike against Plymouth Argyle.

United wins Family Club of the Year award for League 2

Oxford United have won the Family Club of the Year award for League 2 at a Football League awards ceremony in London tonight.
Chairman Kelvin Thomas and manager Chris Wilder were at the ceremony to accept the accolade on behalf of the club.
Judges praised the club saying: "Oxford United's excellent entry highlights their clear understanding of the importance of creating a long term family-club culture."
Cardiff City of the Championship won the overall Family Club of the Year award for the Football League.
Created in 2007, the award is based on an independent assessment, commissioned by the Football League, of the family experience of all 72 league clubs this season using "mystery shopper" famiies, and recognises the outstanding experience clubs provide for young fans and families at their grounds.
Kelvin Thomas said: "We're delighted to be recognised for the work we do and the match day experience we offer for families coming to the stadium. We are a family club and are extremely proud of that. To be recognised as the best in our division is something everyone connected with the club should be rightly proud of."

KADEEM WINS LEAGUE AWARD

Wanderers youngster Kadeem Harris has been named npower League 2 Apprentice of the Year at tonight's Football League Awards ceremony in London.
The winger fought off competition from Oxford's Aaron Woodley and Aldershot's Henrik Breimyr to clinch the prize, which takes into account the academic achievements of scholars away from the pitch.
Tonight's success is the third time the club have won the award in the last five years, with Ikechi Anya and Matt Phillips previously receiving the same accolade, while Pietro Palladino came runner-up in the League 1 category last season.
After winning the trophy, Harris walked straight to head of youth Richard Dobson to thank him for his invaluable support throughout his development.
Dobson said: "I'm extremely proud to have two winners and a runner-up for the Apprentice of the Year award in the last three years. Kadeem's success again this season is testament to his hard work and endeavours, and I hope he can follow in the footsteps of our previous winner, Matt Phillips.
"I'd also like to take the opportunity to thank the staff and coaches in the youth department as Kadeem's recognition reflects the work that goes on behind the scenes with the young players. I hope Kadeem uses this recognition as a catalyst to drive forward in his career with the confidence that he is the best in the country at his level of football."
Meanwhile, Wycombe captain Gareth Ainsworth was pipped to the League 2 Player of the Year award by Bury striker Ryan Lowe.

Connor Wickham picked up two trophies at tonight's Football League awards ceremony held at The Brewery in London.
The Town striker pipped Watford midfielder Will Buckley and Norwich's Henri Lansbury, who is currently on loan from Arsenal, for the Football League Young Player of the Year award.
All registered Football League players aged under 21 at the start of the season were eligible for the category.
Connor was also named as the Championship's Apprentice Player of the Year.
The 18-year-old's double triumph at the Football League's gala night makes it a hat-trick of trophies for the England U21 international in the space of a few weeks, following on from his accolade as the npower Championship Player of the Month for February.
Connor, who turns 18 at the end of the month, joins up with the England U21 squad this week for friendies against Denmark on March 24 in Viborg and Iceland four days later at Preston's Deepdale.
