Burnley Official Site Clarets Suffer Austin Injury Blow Posted on: Sun 06 Mar 2011 The Clarets have been dealt a further striker blow with Charlie Austin set to miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. Austin suffered a dislocated shoulder in training and will have an operation next week to repair the damage. The 21-year-old, a January transfer-window signing from Swindon Town, joins Steven Thompson and Martin Paterson on the sidelines as Burnley boss Eddie Howe looks to try and secure a loan signing to bolster his squad. Howe confirmed: "Charlie dislocated his shoulder in training this week Monday and is due to go under the knife on Wednesday to have an operation to sort the problem out. "He will be out for the season but should be back as good as new for the first day of pre-season. "It's really bad luck for the lad because we've all got high hopes for him here. But he is one for the long term and we have to take the long-term view on it and protect him by getting the operation done now and getting him right for next season." Austin was ruled out for a month earlier this season with a shoulder problem before returning to action with Swindon and taking his goal-scoring tally for the campaign to 17 to clinch his move to Turf Moor. www.burnleyfootballclub.com/page/LatestHeadlines/0,,10413~2308171,00.html
