[You remember last year, John Terry I think it was ran over someone]Telegraph Chelsea defender Ashley Cole shoots club intern with a pellet gunEngland defender Cole apparently turned up to at Chelsea's Cobham training ground holding the weapon, complete with a muzzle and nightscope and accidentally discharged the gun from a distance of 5ft. Tom Cowan, a Loughborough University sports science student on a year's work placement with Chelsea, was in the dressing room last Sunday when the incident happened. Medical staff at the state-of-the art facility tended to Cowan's wounds and he was given two days leave to recover from the shock. A dozen or so staff and, it is believed, a number of the first team squad, witnessed the drama. "Tom was sent home with swabs, lots of pads, dressing and gauzes," according to reports. "But 48 hours later the wound was still weeping and needed further treatment." On Wednesday, Cowan was called into a meeting with "deeply worried" Chelsea officials in order to discuss the incident. This is the second time in less than two years that Cobham has been involved in controversy. In December 2009, Chelsea captain John Terry was caught charging £10,000 in cash to secure behind-the-scenes tours for various individuals without manager Carlo Ancelotti's permission. Terry later claimed the proceeds had been given to charity. www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/8349977/Chelsea-defender-Ashley-Cole-shoots-club-intern-with-a-pellet-gun.html

Chelsea defender Ashley Cole shoots student at club's training ground
England left-back Cole, 30, was 'larking about' with a .22 air rifle when he fired at the work experience student from five feet awayEngland defender Ashley Cole accidentally shot and wounded a 21-year-old student on work experience at his club's Cobham training ground, it was revealed last night. The Chelsea left-back was reported to have been "larking about" with a .22 calibre air rifle when he fired at student Tom Cowan from just five feet away. Sources at Chelsea Football Club told the News of the World how Cowan was treated by medics at the ground and allowed to rest following the incident. But two days later the wound was still weeping and he was tended to again by medical staff. "It's truly inconceivable that a Premier League footballer could bring a gun to the training ground," a source said. "But Ashley pulled the rifle from a box and started larking about with it in the changing room." Former Arsenal star Cole, 30, arrived at Chelsea's Cobham training ground in Surrey holding the weapon, complete with a muzzle and nightscope, last week. The incident was witnessed by a dozen members of staff, but Cole claimed he was unaware that the rifle was loaded. Cowan, a Loughborough University sports science student, was at the team's training ground as part of a year's work placement with Chelsea. On Wednesday, he was called into a three-hour meeting with "deeply worried" Chelsea officials to discuss the accident, and a day later his father, Ronald, a 51-year-old quantity surveyor, held a second meeting at the club where he demanded to know what action would be taken against Cole. A .22 air rifle is the most powerful type of weapon that can be legally owned in Britain without a licence. Under British law the incident could be deemed actual bodily harm which carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment and an unlimited fine. Cole, who earns £110,000 a week, is reported to have been given a severe dressing down, and has formally apologised to Cowan. It is not the first time that Chelsea's Surrey training facility has been at the centre of controversy. In December 2009, the club's captain, John Terry, was caught asking for a £10,000 cash payment to secure behind-the-scenes tours for various individuals without the permission of manager. Terry later claimed that the proceeds of the tours had been given to charity. www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/feb/27/ashley-cole-chelsea-air-rifle

Tamara is reportedly buying a £45million home near Kensington Palace in Central London while Petra bought a £66million Grade II listed mansion near Sloane Square, in nearby Chelsea, from JCB tycoon Sir Anthony Bamford in December. Both properties were, of course, paid for with more than a little help from Mum and – especially – Dad. Lap of luxury: Bernie Ecclestone's Chelsea flat, on the right of the pictured building Lap of luxury: Bernie Ecclestone's Chelsea flat, on the right of the pictured building Dad is billionaire Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone, who reportedly had to give ex-wife Slavica more than £1billion of his fortune when they divorced in 2009, although the details of how his £2.4billion fortune was divided up remain confidential But Bernie is a savvy operator with his own investments. A four-bedroom first-floor apartment, which the 80-year-old bought in a conversion of a beautiful art college building in Chelsea’s Manresa Road in June 2006 for £6,875,000, is back on the market with agents Aylesford for £14million. This equates to more than £3,000 per square foot – not a London record but very high for the area. Rival agents say he’ll be lucky to get the price, but the Manresa Road development that houses the flat was the first serious property venture by the Candy brothers in Central London, so anything is possible. The apartment has been lived in occasionally by Slavica and their daughters since the divorce, but is now surplus to Bernie’s requirements as he has a place in nearby Chelsea Square. The flat first came on the market in October 2010 but was withdrawn ten days later. It then came back in November but was withdrawn again just before Christmas and returned to the market last month, but with no takers so far. Why is that pr1ck taking a pellet gun to the training ground?
I think 52 weeks of Cashley Ole's wages would be fair compensation, the intern won't have a student loan then!

Step one would be to apologize MAIL - Ashley Cole faces £250k fine from Chelsea for shooting student Tom Cowan with air rifleBy Matt Lawton Ashley Cole is facing a £250,000 club fine for shooting a student at Chelsea’s training ground. The England full back — who has so far refused to apologise publicly — wounded 21-year-old Tom Cowan after accidentally firing a high-powered air rifle he took to Cobham last Sunday morning. Surrey police will now start an investigation into the incident, which casts a further cloud over Carlo Ancelotti’s squad ahead of Tuesday’s crucial game at home to Manchester United. Accident: Ashley Cole, seen here in Chelsea's FA Cup game against Everton last Saturday, reportedly shot an intern with an air rifle at the club's training ground last Sunday Victim: Tom Cowan Chelsea have come under pressure in recent weeks after a series of poor results which have seen them fail to defend the FA Cup and slump to fifth in the Barclays Premier League. One man who had been immune to the criticism was Cole, who seemed to have put the previous bad feeling towards him in the past and was even voted England’s player of the year for 2010. But now the left back is waiting to see what punishment the club will hand him for the latest of a string of controversies in his career. A fine amounting to two weeks’ wages would appear to be the most likely outcome. Loughborough University sports science undergraduate Cowan was treated by Chelsea medical staff for a wound that was not considered serious enough to need further examination at a hospital. The club have already conducted an investigation and, after news of the incident emerged in a Sunday newspaper, issued a statement. A Chelsea spokesman said: ‘We have fully investigated the incident and we are taking appropriate action. We will not be commenting further as it is an internal matter.’ It remains unclear as to whether Cole was ever disciplined last year when it emerged he had smuggled a girl into the team hotel on a pre-season tour. He denied the incident to club staff who he then turned to for assistance in keeping the matter out of the newspapers. There was talk of the club disciplining him but in the end nothing appeared to happen. The weapon: A .22 air rifle gun like the one Cole is believed to have shot Tom with But this time there seems to be more of a desire to reprimand Cole, even if he was allowed to play against Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday. Sportsmail understands he received no dressing down from Ancelotti or senior club directors. However, now the story is out, things appear to have changed. Asked yesterday if Cole would issue a statement expressing his regret, his representatives said there were no such plans. www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1361257/Ashley-Cole-faces-250k-fine-Chelsea-shooting-student-Tom-Cowan-air-rifle.html#ixzz1FCkAjSVg MAIL - Chelsea take action against Ashley Cole over claims he 'shot' work experience student at training groundAshley Cole has been rapped by his bosses at Chelsea after he shot a work placement student with an air rifle. The England international is believed to have accidentally shot 21-year-old Tom Cowan from just 5ft away as he 'larked about' with a high-powered .22 rifle at the club's training ground. Accident: Ashley Cole, seen here in Chelsea's FA Cup game against Everton last Saturday, reportedly shot an intern with an air rifle at the club's training ground last Sunday Victim: Tom Cowan A club statement read: 'We have fully investigated the incident and we are taking appropriate action. We will not be commenting further as it is an internal matter.' The News of the World said he wounded the intern who was given medical treatment on the spot, but two days later the wound was still weeping and had to be treated again. A source told the paper: 'It's truly inconceivable that a Premier League footballer could bring a gun to the training ground. 'But Ashley pulled the rifle from a box and started larking about with it in the changing room. Cole didn't know the gun was loaded but it's a disgrace. His behaviour beggars belief.' The incident is believed to have happened last Sunday morning when £110,00-a-week Cole, 30, arrived for training at the Chelsea's Cobham training ground in Surrey holding the weapon, complete with a muzzle and nightscope. The .22 air rifle is the most powerful gun that can be owned in the UK without a licence and if misused, it can kill. Tom is a Loughborough sports student on a year's internship with the west London club. Sources at Chelsea said: 'Tom screamed as this lead pellet hit him in the side. He was bleeding profusely. He was in agony and seemed to go into shock as he steadied himself and sat down on one of the benches.' The weapon: A .22 air rifle gun like the one Cole is believed to have shot Tom with Tom was given two days off to recover and on Wednesday, was reportedly asked to attend a meeting with Chelsea bosses, who are believed to have gone into 'lockdown' over the incident and are 'deeply worried'. The source added: ' A professional footballer bringing a gun to training is not just overstepping the mark, it's taking a running leap over it.' It is understood that Cole has been reprimanded by his bosses at Chelsea and had also apologised to Tom. But Tom's father Ronald, is said to be furious and is demanding to know what action will be taken against the England player. The source said: 'He needs to know that Cole realises the consequences of his actions.' Ashley Cole air rifle claim prompts police investigation
Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole said to have accidentally fired at Loughborough sports science intern at training ground * Amelia Hill and Dominic Fifield Police are to investigate reports that Ashley Cole accidentally shot and wounded a 21-year-old student with an air rifle at Chelsea football club's training ground. A Surrey police spokesman confimed that the force would be in touch with the club after a report that the England international fired the weapon at the man at close range on Sunday last week at the training facility at Cobham. "We can confirm that ... we will be contacting the club to establish whether any criminal offence has been committed," said a police spokesman, adding that officers would interview "whoever runs the training establishment at Cobham". The club said it was taking "appropriate action" in light of the report, which appeared in the News of the World. The Chelsea and former Arsenal left-back was said to have fired a high-powered air rifle at Tom Cowan, a Loughborough sports science student on a year's internship at the west London club. The incident was reported to have taken place in the dressing room as Cole was "larking around" with the rifle some 24 hours after Chelsea's FA Cup fourth-round defeat by Everton. An "insider" told the News of the World that Cowan screamed in agony and went into shock after being hit in the side by a pellet from the .22 calibre air rifle, which is the most powerful gun that can legally be owned in Britain without a licence. Cowan was reportedly given treatment by the club's in-house medical team. Two days later, however, Cowan needed further treatment, it was claimed. Cole reportedly brought the gun – which had a muzzle and nightscope – into the training ground hidden inside a box. He apparently did not realise the weapon was loaded. Cowan's father, Ronald, was said to be "furious" about the incident. Chelsea bosses were said to have held a three-hour meeting with the Cowans last Wednesday. Cole, who reportedly earns £110,000 a week – £5,720,000 a year – has played since the incident, in Chelsea's 2-0 victory at Copenhagen in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie last Tuesday. Chelsea are due to play Manchester United on Tuesday. It was claimed that sources close to Cole, 30, said the gun was not his and that the student had suffered "just a scratch and was not seriously hurt". The source insisted the incident had been "blown out of all proportion". A Chelsea statement read: "We have fully investigated the incident and we are taking appropriate action. We will not be commenting further as it is an internal matter." Last year, the Chelsea manager, Carlo Ancelotti, hailed Cole – who is the former husband of the Girls Aloud singer and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole – as the finest left-back in the world. He said the defender was a role model for all aspiring footballers. He added: "He is highly motivated, a very good player and a very good professional. I think everyone who appreciates football should appreciate him because he is also a very fair player. He never shouts at referees or makes bad tackles on opponents. On the pitch he is an example." www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/feb/27/ashley-cole-shoots-student-rifle

And blame the manager! Soccernet
Carlo under fire as 'shooting' probedFebruary 28, 2011 By Harry Harris and ESPNsoccernet staff Police are to investigate reports that Ashley Cole accidentally shot a student with an air rifle at Chelsea's training ground, an incident that has left Carlo Ancelotti's future in the balance after the club's hierarchy met to discuss the indiscipline creeping into the dressing room. Chelsea defender Cole is said to have accidentally shot 21-year-old Tom Cowan, who had to be treated by the club's medical staff after being hit in the side by a lead pellet, with a .22 rifle last Sunday. The incident was originally kept under wraps but Surrey police have now said they will look into the incident after being alerted by the press to what has become a hugely embarrassing incident for Chelsea.A Surrey police spokesman said: "We can confirm that, while no direct allegation has been made to Surrey police, the matter has been brought to our attention through reports in the media, and we will be contacting the club in due course to establish whether any criminal offence has been committed." Questions have been raised as to why Cole, 30, had an air rifle at the training ground in the first place and ESPNsoccernet has been told that the issue of indiscipline at Chelsea has been growing for a number of months. A Chelsea source said: "The problem of lax discipline has been one going around the club for some time now. The incident with Ashley Cole only adds to the feeling that the manager is not exercising full control over the players."The Blues' board met at Stamford Bridge toward the end of the week, and there is a view that Ancelotti might not see out this season if there is any danger of the team failing to finish in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League. Roman Abramovich has already given thought to the notion that Guus Hiddink could return to West London, although the Turkey boss has indicated that he would prefer the role as a technical/sporting director in successor to Frank Arnesen. soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/887108/carlo-ancelotti-under-fire-as-cops-probe-ashley-cole-?cc=5901

Chelsea take action against gun-toting Cole Chelsea will take action against their trigger-happy England defender Ashley Cole. Chelsea have taken "proper action" against defender Ashley Cole after he accidentally shot an intern with a high-powered air rifle at their training ground, manager Carlo Ancelotti said today (NZT). Police have said they are investigating newspaper reports that Cole shot a 21-year-old man, who was hit by lead pellets fired from an air rifle at the ground in Cobham, southwest of London, last week. Ancelotti, speaking before Chelsea host Premier League leaders Manchester United on Tuesday, declined to say what action Chelsea had taken against the England international, but told reporters: "Obviously, we are not happy with what happened. "But I have spoken with him. He was very disappointed with this, said sorry, made a mistake. It was an accident. "We have taken proper action but tomorrow he will play. "The mistake was that the gun was here in Cobham. We didn't know the gun was here." Asked to whom Cole had apologised, Ancelotti replied: "First, he said sorry to the guy that was involved in this, second sorry to the team mates, third sorry to the club." He said the club had not considered sacking the player, something that would probably have happened in any other job. "He is our player, he always had very good behaviour here," he said. "Now, we have to move on. Who didn't make a mistake in his life?" A Surrey police spokeswoman said earlier that while no direct allegation had been made, the matter had been brought to their attention through media reports. "We will be contacting the club in due course to establish whether any criminal offence has been committed," she said. Media reports said the 30-year-old defender had mistakenly shot the man using a .22 air rifle, the most powerful gun available without a licence in Britain. One eyewitness was quoted as saying the victim had "bled profusely." Club staff treated the man, identified as sports sciences student Tom Cowan who was on work placement with Chelsea, according to reports. He did not need hospital treatment. "He is our player, he always had very good behaviour here," he said. "Now, we have to move on. Who didn't make a mistake in his life?" In my job the place would have been surrounded by armed police threatening to tear gas it unless I gave myself up. - he always had very good behaviour...like the night he had the chick in the hotel room.

Am I missing something here? There was a time when 'Interns' were the offspring of our 'Betters.' They did a stint at top Law Firms, Merchant Banks, in Government, financially supported by their parents. It was recognised as the first step on the ladder of the Gravey Train of life. Now, at a Club with many people 'earning' over 100k per week, they use 'Interns.' So a 21 year lad is gaining 'Work Experience,' at no cost to the Club? Well, at least I hope they're giving him a few quid a week. I mean............Imagine getting shot, then having to pay your own bus fare for the privilege. If every penny counts for the Club, who knows, maybe they should bill the lad for the spent bullet. It's a funny old world eh.

Supposedly no prosecution in all likelihood Mail
Cole escapes prosecution after shooting student with air rifle at Chelsea training ground Chelsea and England star Ashley Cole will escape prosecution for shooting a work placement student with an air gun at the club's training ground. Police sources said officers were 'highly unlikely' to pursue investigations any further after contacting the Premier League club, who disciplined Cole over the incident. Tom Cowan, 21, was accidentally hit by a pellet from a .22 air gun brought into the training ground by Cole on February 20. But the sports science student has no plans to press charges against the Blues defender. Chelsea staff were understood to have been questioned, but Cole himself escaped a police grilling. The decision comes after Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti angrily hit out at calls for Cole to be disciplined, adding: 'What do we have to do now - kill him?' Surrey Police received no formal complaints despite Cole breaking club rules which ban weapons from Chelsea's training ground. Mr Cowan, who is on a one-year work placement at Chelsea, was hit in the side by a lead pellet at the training ground in Cobham. Chelsea's medical staff reportedly treated the bleeding wound and Mr Cowan did not require hospital treatment. The club vowed to take 'appropriate action' www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1364858/Chelseas-Ashley-Cole-escapes-prosecution-shooting-student-air-rifle.html
