A supporter who ran onto the pitch during the FA Cup game between Newcastle and Stevenage and hit a player has been jailed for 12 weeks.
Robert Fitzgerald, 24, has also been banned from football grounds for six years and fined £100.
Magistrates in Stevenage heard how Fitzgerald, who lives in the town, ran on the pitch last month and assaulted Borough defender Scott Laird (pictured).
Fitzgerald admitted common assault. The altercation was over his girlfriend who had previously been in a relationship with the player
