If we stayed 4 points clear for the rest of the season, I'd be happy

Cambridge News Furlong can't be given inch - Livermoreby Marc Beyeler David Livermore will see a familiar face in the line-up when Histon return to action at Kettering Town tomorrow. The hosts have former Chelsea, Birmingham City and QPR forward Paul Furlong leading their attack after signing in the summer. The pair were team-mates at Barnet and played in opposing teams during their league careers, so Stutes boss Livermore knows exactly what to expect at the Elgoods Brewery Arena. "I've known Paul for a quite a while," he said. "He's still a very good, experienced player and a very good target man. He's always going to be a threat for them and he's someone we're going to have to deal with on the day." But for all the experience 42-year-old Furlong will bring to the side, Livermore believes that if his defenders are on top of their game they will be able to keep the Kettering attack quiet without the need for any change in tactics or formation. "It's the same as any time you come up against a centre-forward," he said. "Football is not difficult, it's a simple game. We won't be dealing with him any differently. "We'll be asking our central defenders to compete to win headers, to not give fouls away and make sure their covering positions are good. "It's not always the first ball, but the second one that can hurt you. If our covering positions are correct we should be fine." Kettering won 3-0 at the Glass World earlier in the season, Livermore's second game in charge. And, while he was impressed with their display, he is optimistic his players can return with all three points. "Kettering weren't a bad team. They had some decent midfielders who could move the ball and some decent pace in their team," he said. "It will be an interesting game. It's another one we can go into and definitely go for the win." www.cambridge-news.co.uk/Sport/Furlong-cant-be-given-inch-Livermore.htm
