Jeanne is making up for lost time taking the plunge with Bath
Dec 16 2010 by Terry Phillips, South Wales Echo
FORMER Cardiff City winger Leon Jeanne made his debut for Blue Square Conference club Bath City this week.
Cardiff-born Jeanne went on for the final 10 minutes of Bath City’s 3-2 win at Histon in the FA Trophy, helping his new team earn an away tie against Darlington.
The former Wales Under-21 international has joined Bath from MacWhirter Welsh League Cardiff Corries.
And he has the opportunity to play against Welsh opposition three times in Bath’s next five matches over the festive and new year period.

After Saturday’s home clash with Southport, Bath face Newport County (home, Boxing Day), Forest Green Rovers (home, December 28), Newport County (away, New Year’s Day) and Wrexham (away, January 3).
“It’s great to be back and involved,” said Jeanne.
“I honestly believe there is so much more to come from me.”
Jeanne, now aged 30, is making a new bid to kick-start a playing career which started 13 years ago at Queens Park Rangers.
Alcohol and drug problems followed as he failed to make a major breakthrough with Cardiff, Havant and Waterlooville, Newport, Port Talbot, Barry, Dinas Powys, Merthyr, Maesteg Park, Weston and Cardiff Corries.
“I was such a fool and I regret it, but I was young then,” says Jeanne.
“I think now I’ve got my head screwed on a bit more and I have children.
“I don’t go out any more.
“I’ve really become a bit of a home bird.
“I also put a lot of weight on but now I’ve lost most of it, although I still have a bit more to go.
“Right now I feel on top of the world. I won’t let anybody down this time.”

Drink-drive ban for Stockport County footballer Barry Conlon

Barry Conlon drove while over the alcohol limit
A footballer has been banned from the road for three and a half years after he drove while almost twice over the legal limit.
Barry Conlon, who plays for Stockport County and used to play for Manchester City, was fined a total of £1,715 after he also pleaded guilty at Wigan magistrates court to driving without insurance.
The 32-year-old was spotted driving above the speed limit on Wood Street, in the town, prosecutor John Hibbert said.
Conlon, who was at the wheel of a Mercedes at 11.45pm on November 6, was followed by a police officer and stopped nearby. The officer smelt alcohol on his breath and the player provided a positive sample. He was arrested and taken to Bolton police station and gave a reading of 67 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.
Defending Conlon, Keith Allen said that his client had been out for a few drinks but had stopped drinking and believed himself to be under the limit when he set off for a friend’s house.
He asked magistrates to take into account the absence of aggravating features and said Conlon believed he was insured under a policy taken out by a joint business venture which had recently failed.
Conlon, of Tiverton Drive, Wilmslow, had previously been banned for 14 months for drink driving in February 2006.
On this occasion he was banned from driving for 42 months. He was also fined £1,295.
This was reduced by a third to £865 because he pleaded guilty at the first opportunity, the chair of the bench Gerard Dawber said.
For driving without insurance, he was fined £925 which was reduced to £685 because of his guilty plea.
Conlon was also ordered to pay £150 costs and £15 victim surcharge.
He was warned that if he is caught driving while disqualified he would be sent to prison and told that he would have to apply for a new licence at the end of his ban.
When asked by the magistrates if he had anything to say in his defence Conlon said simply ‘no’.
The former Irish under-21 international started his career at Queens Park Rangers before he moved to Manchester City and making his Blues debut in 1997.
He has also played for Southend Utd, York City, Darlington, Barnsley, Mansfield, Bradford City, Grimsby Town and Chesterfield.
He signed for County this summer.
