LISBIE SIGNS ON LOAN
RANGERS have signed striker Kevin Lisbie on loan from Charlton Athletic for one month from December 1 to January 1.
Lisbie, 22, is a former England youth international with 50 first team appearances under his belt and was recently wanted by Wimbledon who tried to take him on loan and then demanded him as part of the ill-fated John Hartson transfer to The Valley a fortnight ago.
Lisbie is a skillful forward blessed with blistering pace and featured in the Addicks side at the start of the season and was singled out on Match of The Day by Alan Hansen in Charlton's 4-0 thumping of Manchester City on the opening day of the Premiership campaign, after he ran Joe Royle's side ragged.
However, the recent good form of Jonatan Johannson means that Lisbie's chances have been limited in Alan Curbishley side and he will go straight into Gerry Francis' side for tomorrow's visit to Sheffield Wednesday.
QPR OFFICIAL SITE - FRANCIS ON LISBIE
MANAGER Gerry Francis is pleased with the one month loan signing of 22 year old Charlton striker Kevin Lisbie.
Gerry said:" Marlon Broomes has gone back to Blackburn, so that gave us the opportunity of another loan. With Chris Kiwomya still injured and Paul Peschisolido coming up to possibly his last game for us against Sheffield Wednesday, it was important to get another striker in.
"Kevin is a youngster with a good reputation. He is very quick and skilful. Wimbledon recently tried to sign him as part of the deal that was going to take John Hartson to Charlton. Wimbledon were interested in taking him on loan as well so we had to get in quickly.
"Hopefully Kevin can have a good period here. He was leading scorer for Charlton's reserves last season. He's played 40-odd times for their first team. He went on as a sub against us last season in the FA Cup.
"If things go OK with Kevin, we would hope that possibly there is a good chance of him being here a lot longer than a month. We are grateful that Charlton have helped us out with this loan deal."
