Bernie Ecclestone supports the world-wide action of picking up waste from seas
Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has been announced as the patron of a worldwide project encouraging the picking up of waste from the seas around the globe.
The project named Calypso was launched in Zadar, Croatia this weekend where a number of divers started to remove plastic, metal and rubber waste from the sea.
The project was the idea of the well known Croatian diver Kristijan Curavic who managed to convince Bernie Ecclestone to support the campaign.
"We started in Croatia, but we intend the Calypso campaign to become a massive one and hope to spread to more than 30 countries around the world next year. We want all seas and oceans of the world to be free of waste as much as possible", commented Kristijan Curavic.
Former Croatian president Stjepan Mesic has also supported the action
