QPR boss Neil Warnock not bothered by Marcello Lippi rumours QPR boss Neil Warnock has laughed off the threat Italian legend Marcello Lippi is waiting to steal his job should Rs win promotion to the Premiership. Former chairman Flavio Briatore dropped a bombshell this week when he reportedly claimed the man who won the 2006 World Cup for Italy is ‘a dream’ for the team topping the Championship by two points. Although Briatore has no official clout, he and Formula I pal Bernie Ecclestone are still the club’s major shareholders and are understood to be pumping around £700,000 a month into Loftus Road. "If we were to get into the Premier League, I have a dream: Marcello Lippi as coach," Briatore told Italian magazine Chi. But Warnock reckons he would walk into a job tomorrow should the fanciful notion become fact.
"I take this with a pinch of salt if I’m honest," said Warnock. "Worried? My stock’s never been higher. And I get on well with Flavio when we chat once a week or so.
"He has given me his views on the team but he understands I make the decisions – and he’s happy with that."Briatore hired and fired nine managers in three years before he quit in February after a rough ride from fans to go with a team facing the threat of relegation www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/london-sport/london-qpr/2010/10/21/qpr-boss-neil-warnock-not-bothered-by-marcello-lippi-rumours-82029-27518651/

I'm glad he understands that FB & BE are putting in £700,000 a month (£500,000 last week?) - Where do these figures come from?, and I have no idea how this will be reflected in the accounts, as and when they are published

The last account were "published" six months ago - although never officially announced by the club...
So presumably Spring of 2011 will be the next set of accounts

Bump - Year ago Guardian - Thursday 21 October 2010 Marcello Lippi is ideal coach for QPR, says Flavio Briatore • Rangers former chairman wants Italian at Loftus Road • 'I have a dream. That is to have Marcello Lippi as our coach' The QPR co-owner Flavio Briatore has revealed his "dream" to have the former Italy coach Marcello Lippi in charge of the club if they reach the Premier League. Rangers are currently top of the Championship under Neil Warnock, having sacked six managers while Briatore was chairman. But, although he stood down from the position in February, it seems Briatore still wants a say in football matters at Loftus Road. Briatore told the Italian magazine Chi: "Bernie Ecclestone and I have a 70% stake in QPR, and we are top of the table. If we go into the Premier League, I have a dream. That is to have Marcello Lippi as our coach." Rangers were quick to distance themselves from Briatore's comments this morning. A club statement read: "Following speculation in today's press, we would like to confirm that stories linking Marcello Lippi with Queens Park Rangers Football Club are completely unfounded. "The Board of Directors - including Bernie Ecclestone, Amit Bhatia and Flavio Briatore - are 100% behind Neil Warnock and will continue to be so in the future." www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/....flavio-briatore
