News of The World Burton 1 Wycombe 2
GARY WADDOCK hailed Gareth Ainsworth's 100th goal of his career as one of his finest.
The Wycombe midfielder, 37, hit a glorious 30-yarder in the 16th minute.
Boss Waddock, who managed Ainsworth at QPR, said: "He's scored a lot of good goals but that's one of the best." Andy Sandell made it 2-0 before the break but Shaun Harrad's 50th-minute effort set up a tense finish.
Burton chief Paul Peschisolido said: "It was teacups at half-time."

Burton vs Wycombe 1 - 2 Wycombe survived a second-half rally from Burton Albion to clinch an excellent 2-1 victory at the Pirelli Stadium, sealing a fourth successive win for the first time in Gary Waddock's reign.
The visitors made a mockery of the Brewers' unbeaten home record, bossing the first half with style as they raced into a 2-0 lead courtesy of Gareth Ainsworth's screamer and Andy Sandell's free-kick.
Ainsworth's strike from 30 yards was the 100th of his professional career and one he - and Wycombe's fans - will never forget, while Sandell's free-kick continued his own excellent recent run of form in front of goal.Shaun Harrad's close range finish soon after the break set up a nervy finale but Wycombe stayed professional and resolute at the back to hold on for all three points.
Gary Waddock reverted back to the same starting line-up that defeated Stevenage 2-0 last weekend, recalling Alan Bennett, Chris Westwood, Danny Foster, Matt Bloomfield and Gareth Ainsworth for the clash with the Brewers.
Ben Strevens was presented with a golden chance to give the Chairboys an early lead when he was found by Gareth Ainsworth, but the striker headed over from eight yards out. At the other end, Burton's lively right-winger Jacques Maghoma saw a shot deflect wide of Nikki Bull's right post.
Stuart Beavon and Strevens were beginning to cause the Brewers' defence problems and the former went close to breaking the deadlock when he flashed an effort goalwards from the edge of Burton's box.
But the breakthrough came on 16 minutes, and in the most spectacular fashion. There seemed to be nothing on when Ben Strevens laid the ball back to Gareth Ainsworth 35 yards out, but the Wycombe skipper took one touch and fired an unstoppable strike into the top corner, marking his milestone in perfect rock star style.
And Ainsworth nearly doubled his and Wycombe's tally 10 minutes when his delicate 20-yard chip landed on the roof of Burton's net.
Waddock's Wanderers were totally dominant by this stage and Andy Sandell cemented the Chairboys' control on proceedings five minutes before the break. After the exceptional Matt Bloomfield had been fouled 20 yards, Sandell stepped up and curled another free-kick into the top left-hand corner.
The first-half had been a joy to watch from a Wycombe perspective, although they were given a warning on the stroke of half-time when Nikki Bull was called upon to make a fine instinctive save to deny Shaun Harrad after the striker had fired goalwards on the turn.
And they didn't learn their lesson as the same player halved the deficit just five minutes after the break, pouncing on a loose ball inside the area to slam home past Bull and spark a spell of strong Burton pressure.
Moments later, Aaron Webster saw his effort from six yards bounce back off the far post and strike Matt Bloomfield on the back, with the ball landing safely in the arms of the Blues' keeper.
But as a couple more half chances came and went, Wycombe were able to get a grip on the game once again and they were denied a third goal when Kevin Betsy's curling strike hit the post and came away to safety with 20 minutes remaining.
Betsy had another chance to extend the lead when he fired wide of the far post on 70 minutes but it was at the other end where Wycombe needed to be at their best, coping with the strong aerial presence of Shaun Harrad and Richard Walker as the home side threw plenty of balls into Wycombe territory.
But the Blues held on and made it four wins from four as their season continues to go from strength to strength.
