QPR Official Site: Brighton 2 QPR 3A fantastic last-gasp strike from Matthew Rose earned Rangers their fifth win in six games. The Superhoops grabbed all three points after trailing with a quarter of an hour to go, but it was no more than the visitors deserved after an imposing second half display.
Once Kevin Gallen had given the visitors a 16th minute lead, Rangers conceded two soft goals before half time and Brighton could easily have had more.
But after the interval, Ollie's team played with composure and no little skill to grab all three points.
First Paul Furlong slotted home his fifth of the season and then, deep in to injury time, Matthew Rose curled an absolute beauty in to the top right hand corner.
A stunning goal and a wonderful win - Rangers' third away triumph on the bounce. The Rs were impressive and Brighton, who created next to nothing in the second period, can have no real complaints.
The first chance of the game fell to Rangers and very presentable it was too. Marcus Bignot swung in a cross from the right with a minute on the clock and Jamie Cureton - in for the injured Marcus Bean - powered a header over the bar from six yards out.
But in a generally muted opening, the Rangers rearguard were working the harder thanks to the probing of Albion wingers Adam Hinshelwood and Daniel Harding. Then, with 14 minutes on the clock, Adam Virgo ghosted in at the far post, heading a deep cross over from an acute angle.
None of it was particularly pretty, but the visitors certainly wouldn't have minded when they took the lead in the 16th minute.
Lee Cook burst down the left and his low cross should have been comfortably cleared. But Danny Cullip made a real horlicks of things hacking the ball against one of his own players. It fell at the feet of Kevin Gallen who rifled the ball home from 12 yards out.
Buoyed by this breakthrough, Rangers went on the attack again and Paul Furlong's low drive was only just wide of Kuiper's left hand post.
But Brighton were by no means downhearted and after a Virgo free kick grazed the post, the home side drew level on 23 minutes.
Matthew Rose allowed Chris McPhee to turn on the left and his low cross was missed by everyone except Hinshelwood who fired the ball in to the roof of the net.
After a sluggish opening, the game was now full of life with both sides creating chances.
Gino Padula had to clear a Kerry Mayo header off the line at one end and moments later Jamie Cureton's close range strike was goalbound but hacked away.
The game now looked wide open, and Rangers tried to take the heat out of it, tackling and passing neatly in midfield.
But they were grateful for the intervention of Chris Day with three minutes of the half remaining.
Brighton were awarded a free kick 25 yards out - for a harsh looking handball decision - and Darren Currie's brilliant strike was tipped on to the bar by the Superhoops stopper.
But in the 44th minute, Albion took the lead. The home side earned yet another free kick, courtesy of a rash challenge from Padula.
Darren Currie whipped the ball in from 20 yards out - a fine strike and although Cureton went narrowly wide in injury time, Albion held on to their lead until the interval.
Neither side were able to create any real chances of note in the opening stages of the second period with Marc Bircham's wild effort in the 52nd minute, the visitors' first of the half.
Five minutes later Bircham spurned a much clearer chance when he failed to get a proper contact on Lee Cook's excellent cross. Kuipers was nowhere but Bircham was unable to capitalise.
Brighton were finding it harder to create chances, but with a lead to protect the onus was on their opponents to find a way through.
Rangers' football was neat and both Cureton and Furlong tested the Albion defence without troubling Kuipers in the Brighton goal.
With an hour gone Rangers were the better side, but were unable to find the finish to bring the game back on terms.
Midway through the half Virgo swept the ball over from close range, but the momentum was still with the visitors despite the lack of clearcut chances.
With 20 minutes left, Ian Holloway made a double substitution, replacing Gino Padula with Richard Edghill and Martin Rowlands with Kevin McLeod.
But it was this season's leading scorer who would score the visitors' deserved equaliser with 15 minutes to go.
Rose's long ball was flicked in to the path of Paul Furlong by Jamie Cureton who latched on to the ball and finished coolly.
Five minutes later Dan Shittu came on for the outstanding Lee Cook for his first league appearance since January - a welcome sight indeed.
Rangers continued to press and with eight minutes remaining a teasing cross from Kevin McLeod was met by Furlong at the far post and only a brilliant save from Kuipers prevented Rangers from taking the lead.
But just as both sides appeared resigned to the draw, Rose pulled a rabbit out of the hat to send 756 Rangers fans in to rapture. A fantastic strike, and after Rangers' second half display no more than the visitors deserved.
