Hi everyone, sorry of this has already been posted on here at some point this week! 'Non-League Football Day' is taking place on Saturday 4th September 2010 With England playing the night before and there being no Premier League or Championship games on that day as a result, the idea is that it would be a great opportunity to get fans of the professional clubs to come and sample some football at their local non-league club instead Wealdstone are at home at St George's Stadium on 4th September so this is an excellent opportunity for fans of professional clubs to come down to The Vale and see the Stones in action against Bury Town (KO 3pm) in the Ryman League Premier Division. As a special incentive Wealdstone FC will offer half price admission (£5.00) to anyone that produces a valid season ticket of another club (but excluding the opposition!) at the turnstiles. Visit www.wealdstone-fc.com for details of the club and travel directions etc Thanks

This was the QPR notice of non-league Saturday NON-LEAGUE DAY Posted on: Fri 03 Sep 2010 QPR fans are being asked to embrace the first ever national Non League Day this weekend. The brainchild of QPR fan James Doe, Non League Day is a campaign to try and get fans of Premier League and Championship Clubs to go and watch their local non-league side during the forthcoming international break. With the backing of the Football Supporters Federation and the Sunday Mirror, the day has grown from being a humble event on Facebook and Twitter to a nationally recognised event. Article continues Advertisement Clubs up and down the country are offering all kinds of promotions to attract some well needed extra support on Saturday 4th September with some offering special discounts for QPR fans. If you are a Rangers supporter you will be able to get into the following matches in West London from just £5 (check Club websites for details): Hayes & Yeading United v Histon (Blue Square Bet Premier) Hendon v Carshalton Athletic (Ryman Premier) Wealdstone v Bury Town (Ryman Premier) If none of these Clubs are local to you, visit www.nonleagueday.co.uk to find out what else is on and where. Club information: Hayes & Yeading United - www.hyufc.net/Hendon - www.hendonfc.net/Wealdstone - wealdstone-fc.com/Non League Day information: james@nonleagueday.co.uk www.qpr.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~2142652,00.html

Dave McIntyre's Blog
Non-League Daydavidmcintyre | September 4, 2010 at 11:21 Today is non-League day. It’s been organised by my friend James Doe, a QPR and Harrow Borough fan, to encourage people to go along to a non-League game during the international break. James is a right ideas man. Honestly, the guy is full of them - always coming up with some kind of great idea. April’s Tiger Feet walk from Loftus Road to Selhurst Park to raise money for the QPR Tiger Cubs was his idea for starters. Anyone interested in QPR, Harrow Borough or events in W12 (James is a Shepherds Bush man through and through) might like to follow him on Twitter, as a number of Rangers fans already do. Non-League Day really seems to have taken off. It’s proved really popular, attracted much interest, and could even become a regular thing during international breaks. So why not go along to your local non-League club? Unlike Lee Brown, James and I will be at Hayes & Yeading v Histon. This time though he’s not roping me into a 607 bus trip, which had me ready to slit my wrists by the time we arrived for QPR’s pre-season friendly there. And the 607 is the express service. Had we got the 207 we’d probably still be on it. Definitely the train for me today. wp.me/pFeRV-5u

Wealdstone 0 - 0 Bury Town 0-0 Despite huge pressure and almost total dominance and possession of the ball in the second half of this entertaining match on Saturday, Stones couldn’t deliver the break through, and, in the final analysis, had only themselves to blame for not taking all three points from an in-form Bury side. more...... www.wealdstone-fc.com/reports/2010-11.php?id=14

Talk about a small world - my folks grew up in the Wealdstone & Harrow region & my first few years were spent in Wealdstone before we moved down to sunny SA in the late 60's. Needless to say we do tend to look for their results and that is the one non-league teamn that I do support.
I'm sure my Dad still has a couple fo their programmes from the early 80's.
If I remember correctly QPR took them on in an FA Cup 3rd round match in ther late 70's and QPR won 4-0. They reached the 1st round of the FA cup last season and I'm pretty sure they did the non-league double in the early 80's, but were denied entry into the FL by the old pals act ... oops voting committe ... that decided that Crewe should stay in the FL for another season.
I hppe it was a good day out for those fans who went to see the Stones.
