Good, if true. (And if can get around European rules!)
Football 365 - LEAGUE WANTS WINDOW SCRAPPED - REPORTS Posted 30/01/09
The Premier League is reportedly plotting to scrap the January transfer window.
Unhappy with the turmoil and rancor the mid-season window creates, league officials are predicted to demand it is kept open for good - even if that course of action earns the wrath of UEFA and FIFA.
The Daily Mail reports that 'Delegates at the next Premier meeting, scheduled for Thursday, will be invited to discuss the possibility and wisdom of scrapping the January window as well as the ramifications of pursuing such a radical policy.
'Any eventual move to allow transfers to take place throughout the year, not just January and the summer months, would put England out of kilter with the rest of Europe and incur the wrath of UEFA president Michel Platini.
'The former France star is no Anglophile, having argued for Champions League qualification changes to try to dilute the recent domination of the Premier League's Big Four, and there would almost certainly be the threat of sanctions.'
Regard for the January window has declined spectacularly this year and not one Premier League manager has been willing to speak up in its favour. 'The ill-feeling stirred up during the current window, with managers publicly condemning rival clubs for unsettling their players, has strengthened the belief that allowing transfers all year round would be a better option,' says the Mail. 'Most managers - not to mention players' agents - see deal restrictions as damaging. Prices and wages, too, have spiralled in a mad month.'
