Still good move by Ian Holloway Sunday Mirror Holloway turned down bumper pay-day to stick with Blackpool Published 23:00 07/08/10 By Paul Smith Ian Holloway will create history next weekend when he becomes the lowest-paid manager in the last 10 years of the Premier League. Despite leading Blackpool to the promised land of top-flight football and an estimated £90million windfall following the May play-off victory over Cardiff, Holloway remains on just £200,000 a year. It’s a salary more in keeping with a poorly-paid Championship boss. Holloway’s contract with the Tangerines is based on a verbal option to extend his original 12-month deal by a further year if he succeeded in keeping Blackpool in the Championship. One Championship club who tried to lure him in the summer – and offered a £600,000-a-year rise – accused him of blind loyalty. It appears Holloway has no intention of walking away from managing a Premier League club irrespective of what he’s paid. He felt football turned its back on him when Leicester fired him two seasons ago and only Blackpool offered him a route back. www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Ian-Holloway-turned-down-a-bumper-pay-day-to-join-a-Championship-side-to-manage-Blackpool-in-the-Premier-League-as-the-lowest-paid-manager-article546747.html#ixzz0vxhZqDAu

He was always a man of principle and this only enhances his reputation. "A Man's word is his bond." - a foreign statement to most players, most chairmen and every agent invovled in the game today.
