WILLIAMS ON TRIAL AT CITYPosted on: Wed 21 Jul 2010 Tom Williams has been handed a trial at Ashton Gate. The 30-year-old out-of-contract left-sided defender will be a substitute at Torquay United this evening. Manager Steve Coppell told bcfc.co.uk: "Tom has asked to come on board and as we only have one senior left-back in Jamie McAllister, it's an opportunity to look at him. "He'll get a chance to impress over the next couple of games." Tom boasts plenty of experience having spent time at West Ham, Birmingham, QPR, Peterborough, Barnsley, Gillingham, Swansea, Wycombe and Preston North End. He last club was Peterborough, where he was released this summer. www.bcfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10327~2098130,00.html

And Marcus Bignot Trialing with Gainsbrough TrinitySportsEcho www.sportsecho.co.uk/news/Trialists-Blues/article-2442892-detail/article.htmlMarcus Bignot among three trialists for Gainsborough Trinity against Leeds United Thursday, July 22, 2010, 07:00 Comment on this story THREE new faces will be in the Gainsborough Trinity squad for their first pre-season friendly against Leeds United at the Northolme tonight. While manager Brian Little plans to give all his players at least 45 minutes of action, he will also run the rule over Nick McNamara, Gavin Hurren and Marcus Bignot. Hurren, 24, is a defensive midfielder who was at Tamworth at the beginning of last season but left to play in Australia. He has also previously played for Kidderminster Harriers and Mansfield Town. Midfielder McNamara, 20, came through the ranks at Hull City before joining Rushden and Diamonds in March 2009. Bignot, 35, is an experienced right-back who made more than 180 appearances for QPR and also played for Crewe, Bristol Rovers, Rushden and Millwall. "Those three have been with us this week and have done well and now I need to have a look at them in a match," said Little. "We have not got a big squad, but I think we have a fairly strong squad. However, if we feel a player can improve the squad then the option is there for me to sign them." www.sportsecho.co.uk/news/Trialists-Blues/article-2442892-detail/article.html
