Ipswich Town's plans for the new season have been rocked after Damien Delaney was ruled out for three months.

Delaney suffered a serious dead leg in training on Thursday and the defender will miss the start of the new Championship campaign.

He was unable to travel to Holland for Saturday's friendly with PSV Eindhoven and Ipswich boss Roy Keane acknowledged it was a major setback.

"It was a nasty injury and it is a big blow for us," said Keane in the East Anglian Daily Times.

Republic of Ireland international Delaney was a key figure for Ipswich last season as he made 39 appearances following his arrival from Queens Park Rangers.

IAN HOLLOWAY will turn to giant Bolton defender Danny Shittu to help keep Blackpool in the Premier League.

Shittu, 29, has been told he can leave the Reebok Stadium after falling out of favour with Bolton boss Owen Coyle.

The 6ft 3in Nigerian international - who made just ten Premier League appearances last season - played under Holloway at QPR.

Holloway is looking to bring in as many as NINE new signings before Blackpool begin their maiden Premier League season.

Monaco midfielder Malaury Martin will also be offered a contract after impressing on trial

Would not surprise me one bit if he goes to Blackpool probably C Carlisle will join them aswell! would not expect him to be match fit after sitting on the bench for a year !I feel ollie may need better than this to survive in the prem !
