Langley's Bristol Rovers hopes hit by new injury
Friday, January 23, 2009,
Richard Langley's hopes of proving his fitness at Bristol Rovers have suffered another setback.
And that could leave a question mark over the midfielder's future when his short-term deal expires at the end of the month.
The 29-year-old, who previously had spells with QPR, Cardiff City and Luton Town, had an extended trial spell with Rovers before signing a short-term deal for December, which was then extended for a further month.
But a clutch of niggling injuries have affected his availability, and the Jamaica international suffered another in a behind-closed-doors reserve-team outing against Bristol City this week.
He said: "It's all a bit frustrating at the minute. I was back to fitness before picking up a knock in a reserve game this week.
"It's nothing specific, just a little twinge in my leg, but I could be out for a week or so.
"I really need games so it's a setback, if only a minor one. I'm with Bristol Rovers until the end of the month and I really hope to stay longer, but to do that I need to get on the pitch and prove myself.
"I'm having treatment so with a bit of luck I'll be fit again in no time and ready to show the gaffer what I can do."
Langley is understood to be receiving some payment from Rovers, although his deal is mainly on a pay-as-you-play basis and he has yet to feature in a first-team game, despite being included on the bench on a handful of occasions.
