Thus far, some of the names... From The Daily Mail: Day#1 Numbers 41-50. Will better be able to judge when we see the final 50. Dave Thomas is an absolute definite for this list. (If he's not, then ...)Daily Mail THE LIST: 50-41 of football's greatest wing wizards By Sportsmail Reporter This week, it's those who do it with a bit more style and grace - the wingers. Alan Walsh (Middlesbrough, Darlington, Bristol City, Walsall, Huddersfield, Shrewsbury, Cardiff) 48. Stuart Ripley (Middlesbrough, Blackburn, Southampton)47. David Moss (Swindon, Luton) 46. Must be space for Dave Thomas in the final list. The R's list of my generation would include Sinton, Sinclair, Fereday, the brief but marvellous Kennedy....who else?

Mark Lazarus, wont be in the list though
if stuart ripley is in the 40's then Dave Thomas has got to be right up there.
Its difficult to judge from different era's obviously matthews is going to be very near the top, there will be a few from man united, Coppel and Hill no doubt, John Robertson from Forrest.
I would imagine Tony Morley would be up there and Peter Barnes although Thomas should be above both of them

And add Leighton James and perhaps Roger Morgan and Clive Clark. (That's how far back I can go). I presume Stanley Matthews and Tom Finney will be the top two. With George Best, RYann Giggs and probably a couple of otehr Man Ut players. I'd definitely include Charlie Cooke in the list.

Coppell & Eddie Gray come to mind...in fact the 70s seem to have been blessed with wingers, these days they're as rare as rocking horse doodoo

Greatest ever QPR wingers ? We know them already. But who would be in our top 20?
Where would for instance Ian Stewart feature or Gary Micklewhite or more recently Ainsworth and McLeod on his day, on his rare day..how do you compare Lazarus with Cook? Will Routledge join this pantheon of entertainers. Does Dave Thomas define a whole decade? Who else ran the channels in the seventies? Anyone old enough to remember that Mike Ferguson? Ugly looking geezer in the Gerry Francis sense, bit short in the neck department - he was Seventies. What happened to him? Talking of neck deficiencies, who was the eighties winger who looked like Gladstone Small?

No room for Mark Kennedy? And I never really thought of Bridges as exactly a winger Maybe Ian Stewart? And how about Leighton James.
(I'm not wedded to these, but possibly?)

I can only remember back to about 1989 for people I actually saw playing, and it was quite sad how few good wingers we have had since - thinking Sinton, Impey, Sinclair and then the standards lowered.
I remember seeing Meaker play really well against I think Southampton in a night game once, coming on early for Impey...
Since then I would say Cook, Ainsworth and Darlington spring to mind, but I couldn't even form a top ten based on what I've been privileged to see!

In ten years Giggs won't be in the top 10 and Ginolas only in for his hair

Totally agree with Giggs as number one. His domestic medals haul is second to none. Am surprised that Craig Johnson didn't get on the list and Ginola in the top ten? Have to disagree with that one.
