Slade Snares Defender Forbes
Posted on: Wed 26 May 2010
TERRELL FORBES has become the latest player to agree to join the O's ahead of the 2010/11 season, putting pen-to-paper on a two-year contract at Brisbane Road.
The Yeovil Town defender was out of contract with the Huish Park side and has turned down the offer of new terms with the Glovers to link up with manager Russell Slade again.
Londoner Forbes has played under Slade twice before, firstly at Grimsby Town in League 2, and then at Yeovil, where he made 160 League appearances in four years.
The O's boss is delighted to welcome the 28-year-old to E10. He said: "I've signed Terrell at Grimsby, Yeovil and now here, and I'm delighted that he's joined us.
"He's a great competitor who reads the game extremely well and I'm sure the fans will take to him
"I know he's absolutely delighted to have joined us and I'm looking forward to having him on board."
Southwark-born Forbes is a product of the West Ham United Academy, where he was an FA Youth Cup winner in 1999 alongside Michael Carrick and Joe Cole.
He left Upton Park without making a first team appearance, but soon made his mark at Queens Park Rangers, playing 130 games for the west Londoners between 2001 and 2004.
Forbes then moved on to Grimsby in September 2004, staying a year before signing for Oldham in League 1.
In 2006 Slade took him to Yeovil, and was a regular in the Glovers' side in the four years since, helping them reach the League 1 play-off final in 2006/07.
