South London PRess - By Richard Cawley Exclusive: Palace captain Shaun Derry set for QPR Tuesday, 25 May 2010 CRYSTAL Palace captain Shaun Derry is poised to join QPR as former Eagles boss Neil Warnock continues his raids on his old club. Ipswich Town were also interested in the 32-year-old midfielder, who is a free agent this summer, but the South London Press understands that Warnock has won the race for his signature. We revealed a couple of weeks ago that Palace left-back Clint Hill has opted for a move to QPR and they are in also in talks with Darren Ambrose, who scored 20 goals for the South Londoners last season, after a £750,000 bid was accepted. Now Derry has also settled on a switch across the capital to work again with Warnock www.southlondon-today.co.uk/tn/Sport.cfm?id=18265&headline=Exclusive:%20Palace%20captain%20Shaun%20Derry%20set%20for%20QPR

On the other hand, Terry Venables when he came from Palace to QPR also took 5-6 Palace players, plus coaches (Harris, George Graham and others)
If you believe it's a team rather than a bunch of players, Warnock taking players (if true) that he knows what they are/can do/how they react - not just "Hey I"m an agent. Here's a video. Sign this player."

Aussie Nick Carle, who still had a contract for two years, has been given a free transfer to Sydney City FC.

Derry is a defensive midfielder and will not be competing with Buzz for a place. Instead he will be competing with Martin and Gavin both of whom have had major injury problems and are a gamble to be able to continue at this level. Legs is the only player we have who is fit who can play in that position. I believe Gavin will sadly be released. Martin's future is a mystery.
On that basis and the fact that he is on a free Derry is a decent signing.

Rowly is starting to go the Matthew Rose Road. Mahon I sadly agree with you. Shame he is not 6 years younger.

This is a rumour too far as far as I'm concerned.
Good honest Pro, better attitude than 99% of our players, but I thought Gianni said we were going for automatic promotion on Jnet radio ??
And its getting ridiculous the amount of ex Crystal Palace players on our books, show some imagination in the transfer market this is pathetic.

Well they are better than Ledesma Alberti, Pellicore, Yrag, Nardiello, Thomassini, Liam Miller?, Lopez, Quashie, Bent, Iceman,
The Spanish and Israeli strikers, One Size, at least I hope so.

If Warnock brings the players from Palace that he really rated then I have no problem with that. Let him do the team building.
Hopefully the Palace players are only his first targets since they are the ones he is 100% sure about and there are others who will come along further on.

On the other hand, Terry Venables when he came from Palace to QPR also took 5-6 Palace players, plus coaches (Harris, George Graham and others) I had no problem with it then, I have no problem with it now. Buying the players you want from the same side, who were challenging for a top 6 place under Warnock before the perma-tan goldilocks ran out of credit, has it's obvious advantages in team spirit, understanding and trust. If Warnock brings the players from Palace that he really rated then I have no problem with that. Let him do the team building. Exactly. It's interesting that with all the players we had last season when Rowlands and Mahon were injured, their collective skill wasn't enough to keep us from sliding down the table. There were no real leaders on the pitch, so it comes as no surprise to me that the first players Warnock signs are not just ones he knows and trusts but ones he knows and trusts to do that. No nonsense honest professionals to compliment our squad of primadonnas and take charge on the pitch and in the dressing room, so that embarrassing moments such as Watford away or Forest away and Boro at home for different reasons, won't happen again. These are the type of players we need. Not selfish primadonnas who at times did not deserve to wear the shirt last season. In Warnock (only) we trust.

I guess then that these won't be the players who'll cry and demand to leave if Paladini leaves - And Warnock's back will be even more protected from - oh I don't know!
