Newcastle United, in FA Youth Cup Fourth Round action at QPR's Loftus Road tonight, will obviously be hoping for a decent run in this season's competition.
Ryan Donaldson, developed by the Premier League outfit from the age of ten, told the club's website: "Walking out at St James' Park in the last round against Oldham as captain was definitely the highlight of my career so far".
Newcastle may not have lifted The Cup since the great "Gazza" inspired them to a 4-1 aggregate success against Watford in the 1985 Final, but they have enjoyed some good runs in the competition recently.
They have been Semi-Finalists three times in the last ten years - losing 7-3 to Liverpool in 2007, 4-3 to Manchester City in 2006 and 5-2 to Coventry City in 1999 (all aggregate scores) - and also reached the Quarter Finals in 2000.
By contrast they bowed out 0-1at home to Shrewsbury Town in last season's Third Round, watched by less than 400 fans.
Here is the Young Magpies' record in The FA Youth Cup in the last decade:-
2007-08 Third Round (lost 1-0 to Shrewsbury Town)
2006-07 Semi-Final (lost 7-3 to Liverpool)
2005-06 Semi-Final (lost 4-3 to Manchester City)
2004-05 Fourth Round (lost 1-0 to Watford)
2003-04 Fifth Round (lost 2-1 to Middlesbrough)
2002-03 Third Round (lost 3-1 to Manchester United)
2001-02 Third Round (lost 2-1 to Norwich City)
2000-01 Third Round (lost 4-1 to Crystal Palace in a replay)
1999-00 Sixth Round (lost 2-1 to Middlesbrough)
1998-99 Semi-Final (lost 5-2 to Coventry City)
Tonight's tie kicks-off at 7.00 pm.
