STIMSON LEAVES THE GILLS

Mark Stimson has left Gillingam Football Club, following their relegation from Coca-Cola League 1.

A 3-0 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday confirmed their relegation to the bottom tier just 12 months after they won promotion via the Play-Offs.

Stimson took charge at the Priestfield Stadium in November 2007 and guided them up to fifth in the League 2 table, last season. They beat Rochdale in the Play-Off semi-finals before facing Shrewsbury Town at Wembley. Simeon Jackson's 90th minute strike secured their promotion.

The Gills have managed just 12 wins this season and were the only side in the whole of the Football League not to win away from home and three wins in their last 11 games proved disastrous.

ROBINSON APPOINTED MK DONS BOSS

The Milton Keynes Dons have named former Assistant Manager Karl Robinson as their new boss, replacing the departing Paul Ince.

Robinson, at just 29, becomes the youngest Manager in the Football League and has signed a 12-month rolling contract at stadiummk. Former Swindon Town, Tottenham Hotspur and England number two John Gorman has been named as his assistant.

Speaking on the appointment Dons Chairman Pete Winkelman told http://www.mkdons.com:

"Karl is a young man with enormous ambition that has the talent, the enthusiasm and the maturity to build on the momentum our Club is building.

"His coaching credentials and reputation within the game are already well-established and his appointment provides us with some much-needed continuity in terms of team development, player identification and recruitment.

"He believes in the ambition of this Football Club and is passionate about continuing to help us move forward."
