Winners: Newcastle's Kevin Nolan, Norwich's Michael Nelson and Notts County's Lee HughesFootball League NOLAN NAMED PLAYER OF THE MONTH Posted on: 01.05.2010 Newcastle United midfielder Kevin Nolan was celebrating today after being named Coca-Cola Championship Player of the Month for April. Nolan was in outstanding form in April, scoring five goals in six league games. The midfielder began his scoring streak with a goal in the 3-2 away win at Peterborough United. A stunning volleyed winner in the home win over Sheffield United followed to help clinch the Magpies' promotion from the Coca-Cola Championship. Three goals in the next four games, including a brace at Reading, ensured Newcastle United not only ended the month unbeaten but as winners of the Coca-Cola Championship. Also shortlisted for the April award were Peter Whittingham of Cardiff City, Andy King of Leicester City and Gary Hooper of Sc**thorpe United. Michael Nelson of Norwich City won the award in League 1 and Lee Hughes of Notts County was given the League 2 accolade.
