Sky Sports Helguson harbours Hornets hope Striker keen to stick with Watford Last updated: 26th April 2010 Helguson: Happy with Hornets ..Heidar Helguson is hoping to be offered an opportunity to rejoin Watford on a permanent basis. The Icelandic striker has spent much of the 2009/10 on loan at Vicarage Road from Queens Park Rangers. He is enjoying a second spell with the Hornets, having previously turned out for the club between 1999 and 2005. Helguson has been back somewhere close to his best during his time at Watford, and was on target in the 3-0 victory over Reading on Saturday which preserved their Championship status. The 32-year-old admits he feels at home with the Hornets and is keen for an agreement to be reached over the summer which will allow him to remain part of the fold for the foreseeable future. "The mood is happy, and relieved," Helguson said in the wake of the weekend victory which saw Watford safe. Rapport "We left it a bit late to be safe but we got there eventually. "I thought about relegation, or course you think about it. And it would have been devastating for everybody. "I've spent the majority of my time in England here, I've got a good rapport with the fans and everyone here. "I suppose I've played my best football here, so staying up does mean a lot to me. "I'd like to stay here." www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11711_6117270,00.html

I thought some whatfor fan had paid 60/80 grand for him? Or was that just for his wages during the loan?

Again, it never ceases to amaze me that he was loaned to a team, and a competitor in our own division.
What is it about QPR that it has attracted so many crooks and incompetents.

Don't think it was ever official that Helguson sold. More ITK/Board rumours
re Helguson loan: I guess it was that at the time never saw ourselves as a Watford rival for relegation. Came very close ...!
