Laws: We Are A United Force
Posted on: Thu 08 Apr 2010
Brian Laws has dismissed rumours of dressing room unrest at Turf Moor as he prepares his players for Saturday's crunch game at Hull City.
The fall-out from last Saturday's 6-1 defeat by Manchester City has included a club punishment for Kevin McDonald following his early departure from the ground and media speculation claiming disagreements between players and management.
But Laws confirmed today that McDonald will be in his plans for the trip to Hull and insisted there had been no rift between himself and any squad members.
The Clarets boss said: "I can't influence what is going on outside this club and certainly if people want to spread rumours like that there is nothing I can do about it, other than to say there has been no bust-up whatsoever.
"We've had the problem with Kevin and dealt with that but there is no issue with Robbie (Blake) or anyone else. End of story!
"There's been nothing in the dressing room to suggest there's been a fall-out.
"I am disappointed to hear it but it doesn't surprise me because at the moment we are in a position where we are easy targets."
Laws added that he also has thick enough skin to deal with newspaper speculation concerning his own future and has handed McDonald a clean slate following last weekend's much-publicised misdemeanour.
Kevin McDonald will be in squad to face Hull
"He's been punished by it and he's been splashed all over the media," said Laws.
"He feels a bit of an idiot but we have to draw a line under it.
We can't further punish him. He's a nice kid who has had a bad day at the office and taken the wrong decision.
"Kevin has made a mistake and held his hand up, taken his punishment and apologised. What more can you ask?
"It was a wrong judgement call but we won't drag it out.
"We move on and he will certainly be in the squad this weekend."
