Dowie to get Hull job full-time - Exclusive

Iain Dowie is set to land the Hull job permanently - even if he does not keep the Tigers in the Premier League.
Chairman Adam Pearson is pleased with the work Dowie has done in his two weeks since taking charge until the end of the season as Hull's temporary football management consultant.
Dowie inspired Hull to only their second win in 17 league games against Fulham on Saturday to boost their survival chances, and they are now level on points with West Ham.
Pearson is impressed with the way the former Charlton, Crystal Palace, Coventry and QPR boss has brought Hull's divided squad together and likes his down-to-earth style after the egotistical Phil Brown.
Although Pearson and owner Russell Bartlett have made no decision on who will be manager next season, they are leaning towards handing Dowie the job if he can maintain the progress he has made.
Pearson recognises the huge challenge Dowie faced when he succeeded Brown and will not automatically dispense with him if he fails to keep Hull up, judging him on more than just results.
Writing in his programme notes on Saturday, Pearson praised Dowie saying: "We felt new impetus was required immediately to lift the shackles and give us new impetus to move up the league. It's our belief that Iain and his team have already done that in their short time here working with a committed squad of players.
"Iain has brought a freshness and impact to the club that we hoped he would and deserves our full backing for taking on such a challenge at this stage of the season."
Dowie is planning for the long-term and has already outlined his proposals for the team's pre-season preparations to Pearson.
And in another sign of Dowie's forward thinking, he is also looking to recruit more of his own staff to add to his backroom team of Steve Wigley and Tim Flowers
