Leeds United held the record of 29, set in 1973-74, and Liverpool had equalled it when they drew 1-1 at Derby County on March 16th. With even heavier irony they lost 1-0 at Goodison to a goal by Wayne Clarke the brother of striker Allan Clarke who had been instrumental in setting the record with Leeds. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

10 Years ago today... QPR Official Site BANKOLE A BANTAM RANGERS third-choice goalkeeper, Ademole Bankole, has joined Premiership strugglers, Bradford City, on-loan until the end of the season to ease their crisis between the posts
11 Years ago Today QPR Official Site CHRIS'S GRABS HIS CHANCE
CHRIS KIWOMYA was chuffed by his first goals for Rangers in the 4-0 home win over Swindon Town.
Chris said:" It was a big game for us and a good win. It was 0-0 at half-time and we came out for the second half knowing that we needed to get the points. Rob Steiner did well and got the first goal, and that was a good breakthrough for us.
"Then I got the second and it was at the end of a nice move. The ball went to Rob, I just made the run between the defenders and he played me through. I just had to try to keep my head and hit the target. And that’s what I did. I was well happy to get my first goal. It was important to score as there was quite a lot of pressure on me coming into the side and playing as a striker. I hadn’t played in a striking role for QPR before.
"The second goal was on the break after a Swindon corner. Ludo did a great kick for me and their keeper only half came out. So I just chipped him and it was nice to see it hit the back of the net."
The two goals were a big boost for Chris. He’s had a few injury problems since joining Rangers in August after his career fizzled out at Arsenal.
"I just wasn’t to play as a striker, which is my position, and try to play well for QPR," he says. "When I’m fit I just want to play. I haven’t played regularly for a few years. I went to Malaysia and I went to France, but it was important for me to come back and play in this country. I had a few more offers to go abroad last summer, but I wanted to play in England.
"I’ve scored goals at this level for Ipswich and I’ve scored goals in the Premiership. I’ve been around and I’ll always have faith in my own ability. I like it at QPR. It’s a nice, friendly club. So I just want to keep injury free and score as many goals as possible for Rangers. Hopefully I will have a chance to show the QPR fans what I can do."
Chris also has some good news on the home front. "My missus is pregnant again. We already have a little boy so I’m trying to get a five-a-side team going!"

I liked SWANsea, but they can break a mans arm you know. here is one I picked up on the net, what team in the 70's and 80's played in their away kit when at home consistently against a particular team team every time they visited? and why? thats two teams I want

right, not sure the 70's are relevent to be honest but....
Charlton got thrown out of the Valley by Michael Glikstein (sorry, spelling) and had to play at Sainsburys Park in about 1986.
So that would be Palace 'away' at 'home'.
Then Charlton briefly went to Upton Park, so that would be West Ham 'away' at 'home'.
Wimbledon also 'shared' Sainsburys Park with Palace, so that's another one.
Not sure whether Brighton played Gillingham when the former shared the Priestfield, but that would be another.

they were answers too desor, but the one I am after is one particular fixture, the the visiting team were always allowed to play in their colours and the home team played in their away strip.

And Seven years ago: New contract for Baidoo Teenager ponders new QPR contract March 20 2006 Baidoo has scored twice this season QPR want striker Shabazz Baidoo to commit his future to the club by signing a new contract. Youngsters Stefan Bailey and Scott Donnelly have already agreed two-year deals and boss Gary Waddock is keen for Baidoo to sign. Waddock revealed: "We'll be sitting down with Shabazz and his agent. "I want him to sign it. It's now down to Shabazz and what he wants to do. Hopefully we can get that contract sorted out." Have Your Say Chat about QPR on 606 Baidoo came on as a substitute during Rangers' 1-1 draw against Brighton on Saturday. The teenager missed a golden chance to win the match for Waddock's side in injury time. Waddock said: "I don't want that miss to affect him. On another day he would have scored and been the hero. "I know what he's capable of and he's getting better all the time." news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/q/qpr/4825662.stm

For those old enough to remember! BBC March 20, 1966 1966: Football's World Cup stolenThe football World Cup has been stolen while on exhibition at Central Hall in Westminster, London. The £30,000 solid gold Jules Rimet trophy disappeared while a church service was taking place in another part of the building. Thieves removed the cup from the "Sport with Stamps" display at the Stampex exhibition, but stamps worth £3m were left behind. At least two guards were in the hall at the time of the theft. Alsa-Guard, the security firm at the exhibition, was not available for comment. Delegates from current cup-holders Brazil left the cup in custody of the Federation of International Football Association (Fifa) last week. The trophy was to be the centre-piece of the World Cup tournament being hosted by Britain later this year. Vice-chairman of the Football Association Council, Jack Stewart, was reluctant to accept blame for the trophy's disappearance. But he said: "We are responsible for it in the end because we are the organizing association." Detectives and forensics experts are investigating the break-in and have appealed for anyone who was in Central Hall to contact Scotland Yard. Police say a suspicious-looking man was seen in the building at the time of the theft. He is described as being in his early 30s, of average height with thin lips, greased black hair and a possible scar on his face. The Jules Rimet trophy is named after a French lawyer who was a president of FIFA and initiated the World Cup competition in 1929. Brazil have been holders of the Cup for the last eight years, after winning both the 1958 and 1962 competitions. E-mail this story to a friend Watch/Listen Police have appealed for anyone at the exhibition to contact Scotland Yard Security chiefs bemused by World Cup theft In Context Several days of anxiety and frustration followed the Cup's theft. Brazil said it was a sacrilege that would never have been committed in Brazil where even its thieves loved football too much. But the trophy was eventually found by Pickles, a mongrel dog, out for a walk with his owner, on 27 March in south London. Later that year it was England who won the World Cup, but in 1970 Brazil was allowed to keep the trophy for ever, after winning the competition for the third time. The replacement trophy remains the prize for the World Cup to this day. The Jules Rimet cup was stolen again in 1983 - in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It has never been recovered. news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/march/20/newsid_2861000/2861545.stm
