Obviously they hate QPR GOAL OF THE YEAR Posted on: 14.03.2010 Nicky Maynard has won the Mitre Goal of the Year award in association with Soccer AM at the 2010 Football League Awards incorporating FourFourTwo's Top 50 Football League Players. The club received the award at a gala dinner at Grosvenor House, Park Lane on Sunday evening in front of 900 attendees from clubs, sponsors and the football industry. Maynard's strike was voted as the best goal of the 2009 calendar year by attendees at the event, from a shortlist chosen by viewers of Sky Sports' Soccer AM. Maynard's amazing volley was a late Christmas present for Bristol City fans, coming in their Boxing Day match at Loftus Road. With his back towards goal, City's top scorer took two touches before arrowing a scissor-kick into the top corner. It's been an outstanding season for Newcastle United that has seen them rise to the summit of the Coca-Cola Championship, and Kevin Nolan has been right at the forefront of their success. So far this season he leads the Newcastle goal scoring charts netting 13 goals and that, together with his battling qualities, have won him many admirers, not only on Tyneside but throughout The Football League.
