West Bromwich Albion beat Darwen 12-0 in a First Division match. This is still a record victory for the division although it was equalled in 1905 when Nottingham Forest beat Leicester Fosse 12-0.

Arsenal wore their red shirts with white sleeves for the first time in their First Division match against Liverpool at Highbury. Legend has it that manager Herbert Chapman instigated the change after he saw a gentleman wearing a red waistcoat over a white shirt and found the combination more appealing than Arsenal's all red strip. Arsenal lost that match 1-0 but went on to win the League Championship that season and for the following two as well.

Carlisle United beat Accrington Stanley 6-4 in Division Three North. Stanley's goals came courtesy of George Mee and a hat trick by Tom Waring. Both were famous veterans of their day. Waring was a former Aston Villa and England centre-forward and Mee, as far as records can be traced, was the only player to be on the books of a Football League club for each of the twenty years between the two wars.

Red Star Belgrade founded. The team was the team of the Yugoslav Police force and winning the title in the year 2000 was the teams 21st domestic title. They also won the European Cup in 1991 beating Marsailles on penalties.
