Keith Alexander passes away

It is our sad duty to report that Keith Alexander passed away today after arriving home from Macclesfield Town's game at Notts County last night.

Keith was a splendid man. He will be sorely missed at the Moss Rose and by everyone involved in football.

Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family at this very difficult time.

Macclesfield Town have announced that manager Keith Alexander has died at the age of 53.

"Keith was a splendid man," read a club statement. "He will be sorely missed at the Moss Rose and by everyone involved in football."

Macclesfield Town will pay their respects to Keith Alexander before Saturday's home game against Bury at Moss Rose.

Representatives from the six clubs he managed will lay wreaths before a one-minute's applause in his memory.

A minute's silence was held prior to Macclesfield's game at Hereford last weekend but Saturday's match is the first at home since his death.

Alexander passed away suddenly last week at the age of 53.

He died just hours after returning from Macclesfield's game at Notts County.
