Coventry Telegraph Jon Stead considering Coventry City move
CHRIS Coleman hopes to add target man Jon Stead to his Coventry City squad today.
Ipswich Town’s joint leading scorer was last night considering a move to the Ricoh Arena after City agreed terms with his club to take him on loan with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.

God no.....
Not Jon "I Always Score Against QPR" Stead! I think it is 5 in his last 4 against us. That's it we are bloody doomed.
So, let me get this straight. Stead was available from Ipswich, and we got Priskin.... You just couldn't make it up.
I hope this is just paper talk.....

QPR Official Site
THE FRIDAY PREVIEW: SKY BLUES Posted on: Fri 12 Feb 2010 The R's travel to Coventry City on Saturday in what is a classic six-pointer in the race for survival in the Coca Cola Championship.Mick Harford and his charges will be desperate for a maximum return at The Ricoh Arena after a disappointing run of results has seen them slip to 17th spot in the league. The Sky Blues, meanwhile, are in a similar predicament despite their 1-0 home win against Nottingham Forest in midweek, and even with their league position of 14th, they lay just three points ahead of QPR having played a game more. There was nothing to separate the sides when City and Rangers last met in November, and despite the R's taking the lead through Jay Simpson and Akos Buzsaky following Leon Best's opener, Richard Wood nodded home with nine minutes remaining to earn Coventry a share of the spoils. Team News Marcus Bent is unavailable for selection after he picked up a hamstring injury that forced him off in the first ten minutes of Tuesday's defeat at home to Ipswich Town. Gary Borrowdale has been struggling with a calf injury but should be fit to take his place in Mick Harford's 18-man squad - as he did in midweek, while Tamas Priskin is available after he was illegible to play on Tuesday against his parent Club. The only other absentees are Gavin Mahon and Martin Rowlands (both knee), who remained sidelined with long-term injuries. Coventry City are set to hand a debut to Freddie Sears, after the striker joined on loan from West Ham United on Thursday from the remainder of the 2009/10 campaign. Aron Gunnarsson and James McPake are rated doubtful after they both picked up knocks in City's 1-0 midweek home win over Nottingham Forest. Chris Coleman may even call on Gunnarsson's replacement on Tuesday, Gary Deegan, who put in an impressive second-half performance for the Sky Blues. Past Encounter Coventry City 0, Queens Park Rangers 1 Coca Cola Championship - Saturday 7th April 2007 Rangers moved a step closer to retaining their Championship status, thanks to Jimmy Smith's 53rd minute winner at The Ricoh Arena. The Chelsea loanee bagged the only goal of the game early in the second half, as the R's did their survival hopes the power of good with a deserved victory against out-of-sorts Coventry City. Smith scored his first goal in just less than five months of First Team football, when he smashed the ball home from close range, after Paul Furlong and Stefan Moore were earlier denied by Andy Marshall. The R's were terrific value for their victory, with skipper for the day Danny Cullip leading by example at the heart of the visitors' defence and Moore marking his return to the fray with an accomplished display from the left hand side of midfield. Pre-match Talk R's striker Jay Simpson: "If you look at the table things are very close. Back-to-back wins can shoot you right up the table. "We've been working hard in training to put things right so that we won't concede such poor goals. "We need to go to Coventry, pick up three points and be focused on the task ahead." Sky Blues gaffer Chris Coleman: "Mick's a very strong character and he'll have them fired up against us. "Any game at our level is a hard game, albeit QPR have had a bad run. "We've got to make sure that doesn't change against us, and have got to show the same character that we did on Tuesday night (in the 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest). "It'll be a tough game. Queens Park Rangers have some good players, but we've got to go and get the three points." Match odds with Bet365 Coventry City win - evens Draw - 12/5 QPR win - 11/4 www.qpr.co.uk/page/Preview/0,,10373~1963572,00.html

Can this club not do anything right? Doesn't any one proof read this drivel?
God I really do despair sometimes.......

I can't believe the term "six-pointer" is being mentioned in the same breath as QPR. I thought we had a four year plan and were owned by Billionnaire business men who don't do failure?

An amazing text-book of how to screw yourself! To throw in so many millions (forget whether it's "their" money or just added to the debt). But to spend so many millions of pounds on players transfer fees, wages, (long contracts) and all the managers who have to be paid...
And to be where we are now. Just remarkably inept.

Ah, the boys from Bedlam, will be at it again. My only interest in this assortment of broken down victims of the DeRanged Twins, is will Harford last until the Watford match, or indeed, will he be there tomorrow. I find a sort of morbid intrigue about this wholesale decimation of a franchise, knowing that the height, the zenith , or the nadir of this self destruction, has yet to be seen.

Coventry Official Site PREVIEW: Coventry City v QPR COVENTRY City head into their weekend clash with Queens Park Rangers having won four of their last five games at the Ricoh and going unbeaten in their last four games home and away. The Sky Blues are currently riding the crest of a wave, having beat high fliers Nottingham Forest at home on Tuesday, a win that took them to within six points of the play-off places and one point off the top half of the Championship table. Check out pre-match interviews from Chris Coleman and James McPake on Sky Blues Player NOW!!! OVERVIEW QUEENS Park Rangers have been scarcely able to keep themselves off the back pages this season having already seen the demise of two managers and now currently being on their third in former assistant Mick Harford. Jim Magilton, who took charge at the club in the summer, was suspended from his duties in December before leaving his post a few days later and successor Paul Hart was also dismissed after just five games in charge, clearing the way for number two Harford to take hold of the managerial reigns at the club. It has been a difficult period of charge for Harford who has yet to pick up a win as manager and seen his side lose their last four games on the bounce of his five at the helm. Ranger currently lie in 17th place in the Championship following their 2-1 midweek defeat at home to Ipswich Town. HEAD TO HEAD The Sky Blues have the edge over QPR in all-time meetings between the two club's having won 43 of the 105 clashes between them over the last 84 years. City are also unbeaten against Queens Park Rangers in their last five games with the Loftus Road outfit, their most recent result being a last gasp 2-2 draw against the London-based side back in November Last five fixtures QPR 2 Coventry City 2, Coca-Cola Championship, 28/11/2009 QPR 1 Coventry City 1, Coca-Cola Championship, 10/01/2009 Coventry City 1 QPR 0, Coca-Cola Championship, 20/09/2008 Coventry City 0 QPR 0, Coca-Cola Championship, 05/03/2008 QPR 1 Coventry City 2, Coca-Cola Championship, 06/11/2007 CONNECTIONS COVENTRY City midfielder Aron Gunnarsson and QPR'S Icelandic striker Heidar Helguson, currently on loan at Watford, are teammates in the Iceland national side. QPR defender Gary Borrowdale also formerly plied his trade at the Ricoh Arena. LAST GAME QPR 1 Ipswich Town 2 First half strikes from Ipswich's David Norris and Daryl Murphy proved enough to hand Roy Keane's Tractor Boys all three points against struggling QPR. Norris's effort from just inside the Rangers area took a slight deflection on it's way into the net after eight minutes and Murphy made no mistake following a pin point cross from Jack Colback to hammer a shot past Rangers 'keeper Carl Ikeme seven minutes before the break. On loan QPR striker Jay Simpson managed to pull a goal back for the hosts six minutes after the hour but they could not find a crucial second to bring their six-game winless streak to an end. INJURIES AND BANS Coventry City will be waiting on the fitness of defender James McPake and midfieder Aron Gunnarsson ahead of the weekend clash. Gunnarsson took a knock to the shin in Tuesday night's victory at home to Nottingham Forest and McPake is suffering from a stiff back so manager Chris Coleman will see how both platers respond ahead of Saturday. Marcus Hall and Ben Turner both return to first team training for the Sky Blues and recently arrived loan striker Freddie Sears has been given clearance to be included in the weekend matchday squad. QPR will be without on-loan striker Marcus Bent who limped off after just ten minutes of Tuesday night's 2-1 defeat by Ipswich with a hamstring injury. Tamas Priskin, who is on loan from Ipswich and was ineligible in midweek, will be his likely replacement. Boss Mick Harford can welcome back defender Peter Ramage from suspension but midfielder Mikele Leigertwood is in the middle of a three-game ban. Akos Buzsaky and Adel Taarabt are pushing to start after their introductions as half-time substitutes helped produce a vastly improved second-half display on Tuesday. Fellow midfielders Gavin Mahon and Martin Rowlands (both knee) are still out. DANGER MAN Jay Simpson The 20-year-old, on season-long loan from Arsenal, has certainly turned a few heads in the Championship this season with ten goals to his name so far in this campaign. Having been out on loan the last couple of season's, Simpson is certainly benefitting from the experience. Add to the mix a footballing education with the Gunners from the age of nine and you get a very good technical footballer with the pace to hurt most of the defences in the Championship Someone who will have to be given close attention by the City back four.
