Edit a couple of more years...Turning 44As wrote over a decade ago Richard Langley Turns 29 (Remember when that seemed old, both personally, and for a footballer!) Happy Birthday. I'm one of those who doesn't bear any animosity towards Richard Langley. I believe he's still at Bristol Rovers where he recently signed on short term contract. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Langley

I loved RL and could never understand why people hated him when RANGERS sold him to Cardiff. Good luck to him.

The time flies. as I said earlier, so much skill and talent, yet not a great deal of application at times. Kinda sounds familiar to newer fans I guess.

Bump... Happy 44th Birthday...Richard Langley en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Langley1996–2003 Queens Park Rangers 133 (18) 2003–2005 Cardiff City 69 (8) 2005–2006 Queens Park Rangers 33 (3) 2006–2008 Luton Town 29 (1) 2008–2009 Bristol Rovers 0 (0) 2010–2012 Pattaya United 13 (0) 2012 Hemel Hempstead Town 3 (0) 2012 Staines Town 7 (1) 2002–2008 Jamaica 17 (2) FLASHBACK - HIS QPR DEBUT
QPR Official Site - November 3 1998
RICHARD'S SEES FIRST ACTIONRICHARD LANGLEY was thrilled to make his first team debut away to Swindon Town on Saturday. Richard entered the fray as an 84th minute substitute. And he nearly scored a great goal with a flying header which brought an outstanding save from keeper Talia. Richard says:"I played in the reserves on Thursday and there was no indication at that time that I would be called into the first team squad. "So I was very shocked on Friday to be named in the 20 man squad for the trip to Swindon. I brought my big over-jacket with me to keep me warm while I sat in the stand as I really wasn't expecting to be involved. Then an hour before the kick-off, I found out that I would be on the bench and that was the biggest surprise! "When Paul Murray was sent-off in the last 10 minutes, I replaced Mark Perry in the midfield hole. It was a really good moment for me. Iain Dowie told me to sit in the midfield, break as quickly as I could when I got the ball and not to give it away. "I got a couple of chances to score, but unfortunately for me and the team the ball wouldn't go in. On the header, I saw the ball coming over from Keith Rowland's cross. I got quite a good contact on it but the keeper made a good save down to his bottom right corner. "I found it amazing, really amazing, to play in front of 8500 people. It was the biggest crowd I've ever played before and it was a great experience for me. As soon as I went on, I heard all the Rangers fans shouting and I'm really thankful for that. They calmed me down a bit. It was just such a shame that we lost the game in disappointing circumstances. "Now, having had a taste of the action, I'll look towards being in the first team squad on a regular basis." QPR Official Site - NOVEMBER 5, 1998
RICHARD'S DREAM DEBUTRICHARD LANGLEY marked a memorable full debut for Rangers by blasting the first goal at home to Barnsley. Richard, 18, who is a local lad from Acton, has been at Rangers since he was 12. He said:"I was delighted to score. The chance came as a shock to me. The ball bounced over Mike Sheron’s head, it fell on my left foot and fortunately I knocked it past the keeper. "I had only played one reserve game before being called into the first team squad. So this is a big step up from the youth team, with a quicker tempo. It’s a lot harder and you have to really concentrate. "The atmosphere at Loftus Road was great for the Barnsley game. I had all my family behind me, because they are are very supportive. And all the other players have been great - they’ve been encouraging me, telling me to go and enjoy myself and making me feel comfortable." Blackpool 1-3 QPR
A stunning hat-trick from QPR's Richard Langley secured a win over Blackpool to consolidate their play-off hopes but end those of the Seasiders. The visitors outclassed injury-ravaged Blackpool but the game was marred by five bookings and a mass brawl in the 48th minute. Langley opened the scoring after 35 minutes having won a free-kick which he curled superbly into the top left corner of the net past goalkeeper Phil Barnes. Blackpool fought back and created several chances but the Seasiders, missing striker John Murphy, were unable to capitalise. Langley's second goal came just after the hour-mark when he sent a curling shot along the floor past the outstretched arm of Barnes, and he completed his hat-trick six minutes from time with an easy near-post header. Four minutes into stoppage time Blackpool grabbed a late consolation goal when Scott Taylor converted a Leam Richardson cross. Huge amount of talent that, in all honesty, I don't think he fully utilised. The knee injury probably played a part in that, as did Gerry Francis' infamous training regime.
I think the animosity from some fans was that they felt he was one of ours but was joining Cardiff - who had become something of a rival at that time.
I remember a game, think it was Wimbledon, where Langley was on halfway while we defended a set piece. The ball was cleared towards the dug outs and Langers had two Wombles coming to close him down from behind. He waited and waited until the ball was right by the touch line and the defenders were right behind him, then he flicked the ball behind him, almost like a Cruyff turn, and past the defenders. Then turned past them to regather it. Beautiful.

I never felt outraged at him joining Cardiff. It was the QPR decision to sell him - rather than him pushing the move which he simply accepted. And that injury certainly hurt him...When he came back on the Free, disappointing

An absolute tosser of the highest level, from the same crowd of another wronging, leon Jeanne. I am surprised no one has posted the video of him acting a prick when we had a penalty against Luton.

Think that is so unfair. Yes I remember that time. But so very different from so many other players.

Linking him to Leon Jeannes is utterly ridiculous. They couldn't be more dissimilar. As to the penalty, well if the club sold me against my will I think I'd want to beat them on my return too.

Really, They were very good friends, who came from the same area and had the same friends who all played snooker at the same club in Sudbury (Langley and jeanne included). If you knew them you would have known that. So it's not ridiculous but a fact. They both thought they were better than they were and done qpr a favour be playing for them. One I was big head, the other a coke head.

Well I for one thought be was a pretty good player although never reached the potential he obviously had.
The boo boys got to him a bit and there was some moron near me who decided that abusing him for everything he didn't do totally correctly was going to be helpful and then screaming 'Langley you're a useless piece of sh12' was going to be constructive. I remember this character turning around after one particular good ball from Langley with the wonderful line 'Langley you're just a loser with no confidence'. He just played a superb 50 yard ball.
I see him around the SAR sometimes and he seems a nice lad and is happy to chat.
To me more of a 'legend' than some that have been trotted out.
