Bhasera transfer collapses over medical
ZIMBABWE defender, Onismor Bhasera’s move to English first division side Sheffield Wednesday has fallen through after the player failed a medical.
His South African side Kaizer Chiefs had agreed terms for a deal with the championship side at the weekend and the transfer was set to go through pending successful completion of a medical.
Bhasera who has been in England looking for a club had impressed the Wednesday technical team and was looking to bring to an end an agonising time away from the game during which a move to struggling premiership side Portsmouth also failed to materialise.
Kaiser Chief’s team manager Bobby Motaung told South African football webiste Kickoff.com that the medical tests had discovered a knee injury resulting in the collapse of the transfer.
"Bhasera failed a medical test. They discovered that he has an injury, which has something to do with his knee.
“I don't know where he got it, maybe from one of the teams like Portsmouth that he's been training with (since leaving Chiefs at the end of last season)," Motaung says.
Asked where the development leaves the young defender Motaung said he was yet to speak to the Zimbabwean adding that the player was badly advised.
"He's been listening to the wrong people. He went to Portsmouth, but they didn't have money and he's lost out because he's been doing the wrong things.
“Look, that (Richard) Gomes guy was saying a lot of things about Chiefs and in the end Bhasera said he is not even his agent.
"Players must be honest, because Chiefs will never block players from moving but things must be done right," Motaung adds.
Bhasera’s move to Portsmouth collapsed after the clubs failed to agree on a fee with the player’s advisers insisting that he was out of contract at chiefs.
He was then linked with Queens Park Rangers, now being coached by former Pompey boss Paul Hart, but that deal again failed to materialise.
