Newcastle United Official Site Breaking News: United Sign RoutledgeBy Craig Hope NEWCASTLE United have completed the signing of Wayne Routledge on a three-and-a-half-year deal from Queens Park Rangers. The jet-heeled wideman joins for an undisclosed fee from the Loftus Road club and will wear the No.10 jersey for The Magpies. Routledge, 25, was part of the Hoops side which drew 1-1 at Gallowgate earlier in the season and caught the eye that night with a string of right-wing raids. Pacey and direct, the Sidcup-born star first burst onto scene at Palace as a 16-year-old and helped the club to promotion from the Championship in 2004. He was an ever-present in the Eagles side which battled in vain against relegation from the Premier League, but he remained in the top flight when he was snapped up by Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2005. A broken foot curtailed his early progress at White Hart Lane and loan spells at Portsmouth and Fulham followed. His Cottagers debut came as a substitute at St.James' Park in 2006 and it was the former England Under-21 ace who spun the game on its head. Trailing by a goal to nil with seven minutes remaining, Routledge laid on two quick-fire goals as the visitors left Tyneside with maximum points. A permanent move to Aston Villa followed and, after a loan spell at Cardiff City, he signed for QPR in January, 2009. Routledge netted seven times from 49 appearances for the Londoners before his switch to the North East www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20100126/breaking-news-united-sign-routledge_2240137_1944764?

A club with ambition...how refreshing. Obviously dont know if WR wanted out or was told he was going but surely if we had any ambition at all we would be holding on to players of his calibre.

On the bright side, at least the club haven't found a buyer for Buz, yet.

Now that I can understand. Always questioned why someone would want to got to Boro. Great, he'll be celebrating promotion to the prem before our eyes on the last day but not how we would have liked it. What a bollox!

Did we throw Fitz Hall in to the bargain as well ?
I'll give the Geordies a tenner if they take him off our hands.

People like to make fun of Boro for some reason, but they have produced some fantastic youth players, Cattermole, Adam Johnson, the fella with the ugly boat race in central defence. Sign of a good club is one that produces young players IMO.

make that £30 I just found a twenty quid note in my back pocket, so we have now got £40 in the pot to pay Newcastle to take Waste Of Space off our hands, I've never seen a more ridiculous character in the blue & white hoops.

the ironey is that Newcastle play the last game of the season Vs us and we could have to sit and watch them go up while the club bullshite the fans about false hopes and dreams. near £600 for a season ticket and we still stand still.

To say i'm pissed off is a massive understatement.
This seems to be step number 28 in "How to alienate the the £20 supporter" from the Briatore book of "The Idiot's Guide to Running a Football Club".
I'm off to take a long cold shower to calm down. Bollocks.

Unless Routledge wanted to leave? I'm pretty sure i read somewhere that he wanted to go after Hart left, he said he was disillusioned at what has been going on at QPR and thought he'd be better off somewhere else.

Scott, Why are you so confident the figure you quoted is, as you say, "factamondo"?

I was about about to ask for documented evidence of the "factamondo".
Otherwise it's the same as the northern echo's "factamondo".
