Feeling old? Bump. 14 Years ago QPR Official Site - January 25, 2000
NEW CHAT BOARD The new QPR chat board is up and running enabling R's fans to share their views with fellow supporters. The address of the new chat board is chat.planetfootball.com:8080/~qpr/ You will have to register as a New User and give a genuine email address in order to get a password, but once you have got this password you can log in and change it by going to More and Edit your Profile. New features of the system include a search facility where you can see who else is using the board, see who spends the most time logging in to the room or even who posts the most messages! The new board is faster and this should prevent duplicate postings which the old software was particularly prone to. If anyone has any technical questions post a message under the 'Questions for Chat Admin' topic and a technical person from Planetfootball.com will try and explain.

The link is wrong. On the original MB at Planet Dodgy, Myself and Phil from SA were early members. Dodgy & I learnt html coding from a Man City fan whom had befriended us. Was good times. Then PTV took over. It makes me wanna vry to see what that board has become since ver 2 came out.
I've taken it personal . I put a lot of effort into modding that original site.

Porky with the motobike he used to go for rides with his mrs and other MB users such as Juzzie. I was speaking with Dodgy a week ago on Sky video. First time we have chatted "Live" Like that. Great to catch up.
Oh and mike, that link does not work with various permutations.

Juizzie is deffo still about..posts on LFWs every now and then and is on the original online QPR thing..the email list. Wonder what happened to Noam? Last I heard she was getting shot at (no joke!) in the states!

Anyone know what happened to qprmal with the Groucho Marx avatar? He was always posting and was once a regular pre match in the Conningham Arms When the old official MB changed its format nearly 3 years ago he completely disappeared from the scene..strange.

The 'old official mb'...good laugh when it got going. Suited me at the time 'cause BT's site was way out of control and me having five hours of a time difference and trying to run a business, I could hardly keep up,(though some might find that surprising). So the original 'offish' being of a slower pace was a nice place to have a breather. There were days when I would be the only poster and others when it would be just me, Rich (still around the boards), a police officer and a witty geezer who owned a garage in Essex, chatting away. Dodgy, that was Mr Nelson wasn't it, nice bloke, remember the Lonegunman appearing and the Man City fan. Another interesting chap was Ian, something in the music biz and of course our own racing pig correspondent, Vic.

Mal, was he the bloke who had started out life as a West Ham fan and gradually shifted his allegiances ? If so, he was a f...ing funny f..ker, never took things overly seriously, top rate poster.

Boston R .Yes qprmal was from East London and started watching West Ham in the 1950's....John Bond Ken Brown Noel Dwyer era. He started watching R's circa 1979 when he moved to Stanlake Rd Shepherds Bush I believe. Three years ago he was a resident of Stevenage...and because of his fondness for music festivals was sometimes known as our very own QPR Hippy ..He certainly had a fine turn of wit and posted nearly every day on that old official MB format. Vic? do you mean Vic Gibbons who doesnt seem to post on any message board now but occasionally I am still in contact with him. Dodgy classic user name that! Dont see many post from him these days. PS Vic Gibbons originally posted under the user name of Huntingdon

Vic Gibbons, yeah Huntingdon was indeed one of his nom de plumes. Unlike most posters then or even now come to that, he was truly knowledgeable about the club, an every game man and although I don't know him personally, must recognise him by sight. All of us aren't going to be coming down for breakfast one of these days, so I'm delighted to read he is still around. Anyone come across the man, he had been or might still be, involved in music promotion / gigs, in quite a big way.
I'm not aware of Mal using any other boards and if he did, couldn't work out his user names. I have never heard / seen / read anything about him since I stopped going on the offish, which is probably 8/9 years ago.
Dodgy, good sense of humour, always tough for him following the Rangers...he grew up in a Chelsea house!
I cannot recall when I first started using QPR mb's, though '97/8 certainly. BT's org was the first but was a regular on the club site right from it's earliest days and as I mentioned , they were a decent bunch, though the over use of avatars became a little bit much.
Ian, Herrington might have been his name.
Also a v.good / interesting contributor was a young lady from somewhere around the North Pole. I should be horsewhipped for forgetting her name as we met up when she was in Boston!
Anyone else?

My #1 board was Battletank's .org and only occasionally on Rivals (or whatever it was called then) ...Occasionally on the Official (seem to recall had a conflict with QBP even there)...and for a few months before Finney et al set up Indys, posted on the LSA board and again had ssome hot conversations with QPR) Remember Matt Doran on the dot.org who used to get a lot of grief. (I used to get a lot of grief of course "Copy and Paste' and "obsessed" - But Matt doran was really subject) And I think on Rivals, there used to be a poster something like Harlinghoop or some name like that with a bulldog avatar...

Was chatting with Mr Doran up at Sunderland earlier this season, if you were watching SSN, he was the blonde guy interviewed before the kick off, think he has some sort of involvement with a QPR app, not really sure as I'm not an 'app' type of bloke. Anyway if you don't already know, chap lives down in Pagham and is still very much following Rangers.
Bulldog avatar on the offish as well I'm sure.
Yes Mac, you were a copy and paste obsessed fella alright!

Kerrins & BostonR, you have touched on a topic very dear to me. I've been hunting QPRMal for a few years to invite him on here. Dogdy doesn't want to as i have asked him, Vic isn't that interested, Yousef is happy on WATRB's and so too is Sharnia - remember her? Marian has come here, Robbie Thomas Walsh is God jnows where on the MB front but he's currently the lead singer for Perpendicular - google search them - a Deep Purple tribute band with occasional guest Ian Paice himself. Micky & Vicky Cordwell. they're still around but not on the MB's I dont think. Phil fom SA is here, Zico can be found on IndyR's. Kim is still around and just as passionate about the club. Not sure if she is MBing any more though. I was really hoping that the "Old MB" and original crew as mentioned, would come here to comment. I do miss them.
Anders was the Man City fan. An awesome guy whom taught me & Dodgy a fair bit about HTML coding. Also remember "Harry Habin" the Cambridge United fan. One of the best fans of other clubs I have encountered. he's still there and actively involved with them.

So have you all been doing this nonsense since the year 2000?
I'm such a novice by comparison. A number of months on the old BBC 606 forum before being dragged across to Not606 by some chap called Northolt_QPR in early 2011 before finally swapping to here last summer.

Wasn't that lady QPR Kim and her mother? Nah, Kim and her mother were not the ladies in question. Although they had both slipped my mind, your mentioning of her name jolted the brain box and re calibrated past posts. Kim was originally from close to me in Wembley, she moved out to Herts or Beds, though we sometimes exchanged observations from our mutual childhood experiences. I did not have them on my Christmas card list. The particular girl was a regular poster from early days, her mate caused much interest when she posted a pic of her and all the boys blood pressure went up. The second girl in question was from Worlds End, on the Kings Rd, both of them attended a Bruins hockey game with me and we ended up getting absolutely stocias! Both were great fun, it was a pleasure to have met them.

Boston R...the amazing thing about Vic Gibbons was that I knew him from about 1955...and did not realise it till 2002! He used to play in a skiffle group called The Worried Men with Adam Faith Roger Daltrey which performed during the intervals at kids Saturday morning pictures at the Gaumont and Savoy Acton. Also I further discovered that we had even more in common...... He once lived in the very same house in Vespan Rd Shepherds Bush as my best friends family(The Father and son who took me to my first R's match in Sept 1957) before later moving to Old Oak Rd. We also went to the same primary school Victoria although Vic left years before my time.
I have met him a few times in the Conningham Arms and we will try to get together this year for a meet up. Its not easy because I live in Manchester. I think he is stiil involved in Music and I do know for sure that he is a big jazz fan.
Andy lonegun...yeah the mystery of qprmal
